Hi,
I can tell you that here in NSW i went to the docs last august and my consultation was $50 i then went to medicare and got approx $37.00 back - my prescription which included a repeat as well cost me $20.00

Tax on wages is approx 25 - 26% but does depend on how much you earn, once you earn over $60,000 it goes up. If you are employed the company you work for pay approx 9% of your wage every week into supperanuation fund. Everbody who works has to do a tax return (think in June) and my hubby says you get fined if you dont.
Hope this helps a bit

Hiya,

Trying to work the system out and understand my pay slip!! I have supperanuation (is that how you spell it??) deducted and tax. I'm going to look into salary packaging because I'm a nurse I can have some money deducted from my salary before tax to go towards my mortage for example, so that I pay less tax.

There's no national insurance equivalent - you pay to see the dr.
