Red face student visa - which one??

Us again, still trying to find a way in !! Student visas, does anyone know if any of the skills on the shortage list can be done at college and will give you your 60 points ?? (Assuming the college offers the skill ) All i have seen recently is hairdressing, cookery or horticulture.
Also does anyone know how quickly you can apply for the PR once your course has completed? When does the course end if it begins in February?

Also how much is the cost of schooling for a child, we have three, 11, 8 and 4 ?

Also can you purchase a house while you on a student visa ?

Has anyone acually done this ??

It is diffucult to find an internationally available trade course (AQF Cert III) that 1 - meets TRA requirements of being full-time and 2 - also meets DIAC requirements of being a minimum of 2 years duration.

Most trades AQF Cert III courses are delivered part-time to apprentices but some trades, like cookery and hairdressing do lend themselves to short full-time courses. Often you need to combine the AQF Cert III with a diploma course to "stretch it out" to 2 years duration but then you must prove to DIAC that both courses are relevant to the trade. They are accepting Business and IT diplomas as relevant to some trades where it can be demonstrated that these IT or business skills can be used in a business environment.

I did see a previous post that somebody had found a 2 year Automotive Engineering Course in Queensland but I have not found this to check it out that it is going to get TRA recognition at the end of the course. It is the lower award of the AQF Certificate III (with 900 hours of practical experience that gets you through Pathway E with the TRA, not any higher award. For example, a 2 year hairdressing Diploma will not get yopu through TRA unless a stand-alone AQF Certificate III in hairdressing was not awarded for say the first year of study.

Lets take the scenario of a 2 year hairdressing Diploma that awards the AQF Cert III after 12 months. As soon as you get the required 900 hours practical experience after being awarded the AQF Cert III, yo ucan then apply to TRA for recognition as a Hairdresser. So this could be done after year if the full 20 hours per week work right was being exercised. I must stress that the 900 hours of practical experience has to be separate from any practical experience that forms part of the course. Then, as soon as you complete the diplom course requirements, you can immediately apply for the Graduate permanent visa as you already hold the approved TRA (other routine requirements also have to be met before you can make the permanent application). you can then remain in Australia, with full work rights, while they process your visa application.

If Hairdressers come off the MODL before you make the visa application, you may have to return to the UK and apply for an SIR visa for a State who will nominate you and your skills.

Buying of residential property while on a temporary visa is only restricted for existing houses. You can buy new houses or buy land and build but you must seek permission from the Foreign Investment Review Board if you wish to buy an established house. This permission is generally given to temorary visa holders where their visa allows a stay in excess of 12 months but with restrictions like - you must live in it and can not rent it out and you must sell if/when you leave Australia.

On the schooling, your children would have dependent student visas and my understanding is that they can enter state schools assuming there is room for them - so no need to be paying overseas student fees for your children. NSW may be different so please check out this is a massive difference to the likely costs of your plan.
