"Teaching Australia" Skills Assessment Application

Has anyone recently got their skills assessed by “Teaching Australia”?

I am filling in the forms at the moment and think that I have finally got all the info needed – but has anyone got any hints / tips as to making sure that the info is correct and the forms filled in to their requirements?

Also does anyone know how long they are taking to process the applications?

Any help would be really grateful.

Thanks

Andrew & Karen

Teaching Australia

:) Hello Andrew and Karen!

Im a primary school teacher and got my Teaching Australia Skills assessment back pretty quickly. It took about 6 wks on the whole. Sent off the documentation early November and received my Skills assessment certificate 11th Dec 06. They also send you a letter of acknowledgement to let you know they have rec your application. I presume this is also when they would ask you for any more information you may have missed.
With regards as what documentation to send this is what I enclosed:

1.Certified Copy of Ref from headteacher regarding curriculum duties etc, hrs worked, where you are on the pay spine, how long you have worked at the school. Also attached my official job description to this too. We had also just had an Ofsted inspection so I attached that with regard to my lesson obs.?!?!
2. Certified copy of Degree certificate
3. Certified copy of Academic Transcript of your degree (had to ring uni for this)
4. Certified copy of Information showing how many days supervised teaching practice I did during my degree (had to ring uni for this)
5. Certified copy of a pay slip
6. Certified copy of grades I achieved at GCSE and A Level (evidence of secondary education in UK)
7. Certified copy of my certificate that showed I had completed my NQT year satisfactorily
8. Certified copy of birth certificate

I think I went a bit bonkers but just didn't want the hassle of having to do anything again!

We are now working our way through the rest of the application process which is a bit mind boggling! Have you any idea where you want to live in Oz?

Hope this helps you!

Dugong!

Came over all misty-eyed at your tag! Went to Perth last year for hols and actually saw dugongs up at Monkey Mia, WA. Neither me nor OH had heard of them before that!

Have you seen them? Is that why it's your tag? Curious :?

We'll be in Perth again in 2 weeks and 5 days and counting for another hol....

Hello
Im so jealous you've seen them! I've never had the pleasure...just seen them on wildlife docs etc, im obsessed. They are so mellow and gentle!!

Do you think u'll get to see them again? How lucky are you going back to Perth! My best mate has been living there just over a yr in a suburb called Ellenbrook (think that's right!) and is loving life.

Is Perth where you want to live?

Dugong aka Rachel too!! :D

Hi!

Won't be seeing dugongs again this time :(

Last March we travelled a lot, went up north WA, and this is where the dugongs are.

This time, we're staying more or less in Perth city. Might head out to Rockingham, whale and dolphin watching though.

We're actually headed for Melbourne :? Love WA and Perth very very very much but trying to get out on Student Visa and the course OH wants is in Melbourne :( Maybe we will love Melbourne too, but beggars can't be choosers can they?

Cheers,
Rachel

You will love Melbourne, we stayed there for a while when we backpacked in 2004. Got a great atmosphere and a fantstic market!

When you say North WA is that anywhere near Broome? That was another place that we loved on our travels although it was extremely hot and I had a close encounter with a snake!

In August 06, OH and I went back for a holiday to Byron Bay in NSW. We went humpback whale watching...it was amazing, almost spiritual! :D

What is it that you/OH studying?

Rache,

No didn't go as far as Broome! Heard others say it's fab, but Denham and Monkey Mia was as far north as we went. Were glad to drive south again too as got caught up in the tail end of the cyclone, terrifying drive in the most torrential rain I've ever seen. Couldn't see even 10 metres ahead, and so deserted no other traffic, well might see another vehicle every 20 minutes or so!! Most frightening experience of my life. Told OH would only go back to Denham if we flew next time and wasn't joking!

OH is going to study Automotive Engineering. Course just applied for, commencing in July 2008 as my daughter is only half-way through her A levels...... Glad to hear Melbourne is great too. Thanks!

Thanks Dugong,

You have given me a really comprehensive list. I think I have now found most of it - but a certified copy of my payslip seems an excellent idea.

Especially as I have just found that a fellow pom who has just moved to WA has only been paid starting graduate wage in their first pay packet.

I'm a secondary school teacher and we are looking to go to WA. Hope to get out in Jan 08 for start of their year.

Thanks once again - let me know how your visa application goes.

All the best
Andrew&Karen
