if emigrating from the uk is the police cert. the same as the character reference?, we are going for our meds soon and we have e-mailed off our police certs, so if i've missed something i'd better find out quick!.

I've never come across anyone having to get anything besides the Police clearance. I guess if there have been serious convictions one would have to get character references from the Great & the Good, but not otherwise.
thanks for the info. neither my wife or myself have any criminal convictions, but as the oz web-site kept using the words character ref/police/penal clearences, i was just getting confused about the whole thing and as we are getting towards the end of our application process i just wanted everything to be in place.
I think we all read that website far too literally. Somewhere it says menacingly that if they ask for something (eg the police checks) by a particular date, they will not accept a letter sent the day before the deadline expires announcing that the applicant has sent for them that very day and they should be available within the next couple of months.
Which has the rest of us in a cold sweat imagining that PC Plod will let us down and that the sky will fall in etc etc....!
