Qualification Recognition List

Hi folks!

Can anyone out there advise me as to whether our UK qualifications obtained both at school and work need to be recognised in Australia?
We are just deciding on which migration agent to use after researching many but i'm trying to get ahead of the game a little.
My OH is a joiner and I hope to continue working for the police but it would be useful to know whether the qualification recognition service is worth paying a subscription fee for.

Thanks in advance,

Candy :)

candy,
We are just going through our skills assessment at the minute and like you needed to find all of these things out. Only post secondary qualifications count such as Degree's or Diploma's however we were advised to put all of our qualifications in just to back up our application, we work for social services and have over 40 certificates for courses ran by the service, these are not professional qualification's but they do prove that we have a great deal of experience and knowlwdge of the job which we are applying with.

Hi Degs,

Thanks for that. I do have some sixth form and college qualifications and didnt know if it might be worth paying a fee to have them recognised in Oz. I'll do as you have and just list everything Ive done.
How far are you in the process and where do you hope to move to?

Candy :)

Candy,
just putting skills assessment in now, thought we would have done this alot quicker but we have had to apply for certificate duplicates from edexcel in london, we have also found that once we have started looking certificates are coming from everywhere, my wife has completed certain social care nvq courses that we did not realise she had, well it looks like she has about 35 different certificates, alot of signing by the magistrate!!
We are hoping to go to perth as my brother in law is there and is sponsoring us. Quite nerve racking lodging application as you never know if you are going to be successful.
Good luck

Degs

Hi again Degs,

I'm sure your application will be just fine! :D
Im glad that its not just me asking silly or potentially pointless questions about the qualifications but I want to make sure that we are ahead of the game a little so we are not scrabbling round trying to find historical info that could take ages and delay the process. I too have NVQ Lvl 2 and 3 in Social Care but Il have my certificates at the ready!
Am awaiting a phone call tomorrow from a third migration company and then we'll decide who to go with. Not quite sure where we want to live in Oz either at this stage, just so long as the job prospects are good for both of us. More research to follow...

Nice to speak to you and thanks for the advice, the very best of luck with your skiils assessment.

Candy & Paul x
