Cost of shipping your car

Hi all

Has anyone had experience of shipping their own car rather than buying once in oz ??

I've tried doing a search but noy getting anywhere.

How much to ship it ??

Also what are the paperwork/documentation complications doing this, DVLA and what would i have to do once the car arrived in oz ( number plate brit to oz one etc ) ??

Any ideas would be greatly received

Cheers

Sg

Hiya we looked into this last year ,i cant for the life of me remember which site but im sure you will find a link on the forum somewere, probably under the transport section. It does work out quite expensive when you add up shipping, taxes and the 'hidden extras' such as steam cleans,re-registration,oz conversions were needed etc,we decided to sell and buy here.Second hand cars are abit more expensive but new ones seem about the same ,hope this helps but do the search at the top of page to find the link.

General consensus seems to be that for an ordinary car it is not worth shipping it over. The only way it might be worthwhile is if you have a specialist/collector type car with sentimental value.
As calgary said, do a search for it as there is other, more detailed, info on here that might help you make a decision.
