What kind of visa?

Disappointed! I was hoping to get a skill visa as I am a mechanic (over 20 yrs exp). However, due to family circumstances I have been running another (non mechanical) business for the past 18 months. This means I fail the assessment. I was hoping to emigrate and find work as a mechanic but this now doesn't seem possible. I was told I should work as a mechanic for a year (20 hrs pw min) and then apply, but I cannot do this and run my current business - any ideas??

If I can't apply for the skilled visa, is there any other sort of visa I can apply for? I will have a fair amount of money after the sale of my property in the UK. Also, is it worth going over on a temp visa then applying for permanent residence once there?

Any advise would be helpful, I would be emigrating with my wife and three small children. My wife and I are both under 40.

Thanks

What Kind Of Visa?

Hi Sorento,

I have applied for a 457 visa for sponsorship and have got a job by sponsorship from a business in Sydney. I have 9 years experience and qualifications in th job i did, havent done that job since february last year now but still got the job. Ours will be Temp/Long stay Visa and we are going to apply for permenent after 12 months. We are just awaiting on the visa anyday now everything is done and awaiting on the phone call.

Do a search on Google for companies who sponsor mechanics in Australia thats what we did and it came up with 3 companies then just email them your cv and covering letter. i had 2 companies wanted me.

Hope this helps and good luck

Lynne & Family
