I am currenlty working as a IT systems manager, for the past 2 years (3 years in total at the company). While here i have passed my MCSE and serveral CompTia exams (security +, A+ and Network +). I gained another 3 years working as a IT administrator NT4/2000.
How much checking/information do they require from your previous employeer as we never really seen eye to eye and dont really want to invove them in this process. I still have pay slips etc. But not sure if they will accept these. I'm sure i could get the HR dept there to give me some ref, But would prefer not?
If you have your MCSA/MCSE - how do they recognise this qualification?
Anyone with advice in this area dealing with the ACS

we find ourselves in a similar position - 8 years experience wourking in the field as an anlyst programmer - recent MCP / MCAD qualifications but have no degree. Is this going to be a major stumbling block?
From what i can make out from the ACS web site they require current employer references, that is something i would like to avoid for as long as possible if only for the fact that my boss will make my life a living hell if he thought i was considering what we are in fact considering.
Any advice that anyone can give will be greatly appreciated....
Whilst my OH doesn't work in the IT field, he did have a similar issue in that he didn't want his employer to be aware that he was applying for an Australian visa. The solution has been to file a Statutory Declaration which sets out everything that he does in his job (as much detail as possible) - I guess that it's a bit like a reference but written by us! (Let me know if you want more info re Stat Decs.) We were told by our agent that we'd eventually need to replace the Stat Dec with a reference later down the line.
We've just had our medicals and are getting police checks done now. According to our agent the Oz gov't would normally ask for a confirmatory reference from the employer at this stage. However, we're keeping our fingers crossed because my OH hasn't been asked for a reference and our agent thinks that we may not have to provide it at all.
I am also considering the move to Oz. I have about 5 years IT experience within Web Applications Development, but once again have no degree. Can this sort of experience replace and IT degree requirement?
If so what sort of information is required by the ACS?
