Petar Petrovic
Hi guys, I have one question. Does my partner have to pass IELTS test and score 4.5 on each of the four components of the IELTS test (listening, reading, writing, speaking) or she needs just an overall score of 4.5? This is written on DIAC website: Proof that confirms a person's ability to communicate in English includes: an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) Thank you very much for your answer. lebourvellec
Average score would be the overall score.
Petar Petrovic
Average score would be the overall score. But: "average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components"... Still unsure...sorry.
ahona
as per my understanding "average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components" means overall band score of 4.5. Bocz in skill select points table,it mentioned clearly on each of the 4 components but in fuctional english page they didn't mention on each module. an IELTS Test result showing have a band score of at least 7 on each of the four components of speaking, reading, listening and writing Someone may have different view than mine and will share their view if i'm wrong. Petar Petrovic
Your answers make sense and I also think they are true, but somehow I need to be 100% sure. Why do they then mention IELTS components in this sentence: "average score of at least 4.5 for the four test components", if it's just about average score? nicjam51
Hi yes you have to score the same ( 4.5) in your case, in each component of the IELTS exam. I had to score a 7 or heigher in all components. Not sure why she's having to score a lower point. Make sure you know exactly what points you need to achieve and then if it is a 4.5 she will need to score that or heigher in each component. The overall score does'nt count. Hope i've helped:biggrin:
Petar Petrovic
It differs whether you are main applicant or just a partner to the main applicant. As the mail applicant I also had to score at least 7 on each of the four components. However, this is not the same for my partner. I hope I am right. Petar Petrovic
I believe you, but please provide me some evidence. It's too much to pay for me right now.
wrussell
9, 9, 0, 0 will do it or 0, 0, 9, 9 or 5, 5, 4, 4 Any set of 4 IELTS band scores that when added result in a number greater than or equal to 4.5 upon division by 4 will do it. There are other ways - specified education in English. Edited January 22, 2013 by wrussell
