ADF transfers

My husband has been offered a provisional transfer to the ADF in Melbourne subject to medicals and Visas. Has anyone else tranfered to the ADF who has any information or tips?

Hi Jo,

I have also been offered a job subject to visas etc so although no tips as yet maybe we can swap notes along the way. Was your offer as a result of a trip to London this week?

Yes, we went to London a couple of weeks ago. It would be good to have someone in the same situation to compare notes! Where is your posting to?

There are a few others on this site and on other sites who are transferring. We went for our interviews in May and have just had our medicals done. We should hopefully hear about our visa in the next couple of weeks.

We are hopefully going out February/March next year. My husband is being posted to Puckapunyal, about an hour north of Melbourne.

I'm off to Oz next year, visas went in to passports this week.
It's all with the Aussie Army, we're not going to Melbourne though.
If you have any particular questions about the process then ask away!

We have just sent all our visa paperwork off, got the medicals done in advance to save time, as husband is out of the army in Jan, just had our eviction notice from DHE 20 Jan so things are getting to a timeline deadline now. We have been posted to Canberra.

Friends of ours fly on Mon to Sydney.

Hi again,

We're probably off to Perth but nothing definate yet. I had to do a medical already for the ADF so did my visa medical at the same time. I'm now waiting for the final job offer and posting to be there before June 2007.

I'm about to submit the visa paperwork but have had some issues gaining the Police Certificates from a couple of countries I've served in in the Middle East. Anyone else had these problems?

Hi Martin,

Having just been offered a post with the ADF I am right at the beginning of the process. I beleive the next steps to be:

receive firm job offer
sort out family medicals
apply for visas

Is this right and roughly how long does it take? Can my family medicals be done before the firm job offer has arrived?
