Visa sticker on passport

Hullo everyone !!!!

Just a quick question, our migration agents said that the passports need to be sent to London (Australia House I presume) then they have to send the stamped passports back to us here. Can we go in and get the stickers on the passports, in person ????

Yes, we are getting frustrated with this - whats more annoying is folk in the street, supermarket, by email constantly asking us why we are still here, why arent we in Australia and saying Oh I thought you had your visa - when is it you are flying out ;-) LOL.

Never mind, it ll happen soon and then we will have hectic days before we leave - isnt it weird how nothing happens for ages then all of a sudden you are rushed off your feet????? Momentum s gotta pick up soon ;-)

Thanks for the suggestion Gill ;-) We are doing okay - packing is therapeutic and with the weather not being so bad we ve been out and about a lot :-) Got myself some new togs too - all Ive gotta get is big shorts lol in October! hee hee.

Daisy,

I do know someone who went to Australia House to have them done, but they lived near London (think there were only certain times). We sent ours by registered poste (as was suggested by our case officer) £4.50 each way and they were back within 5 working days. I don't know of anyone who has had to wait longer than that for them to arrive back

Ali

Hi Daisy

I agree with Ali. Unless you live round the corner from Australia House, it is NOT worth fighting your way round London for the sake of the visa-labels. I sent Mum's passport on the Monday and got it back on the Friday. A chum of mine sent hers on Tuesday this week and got it back yesterday. It is a really quick turnaround and they don't keep any of the stuff that you send them - they send the whole caboodle back to you. (So much for my polite covering letter, then!)

DO ensure that you use Special Delivery to send them off, get the silver pouch for the return delivery back to you, and keep a note of the tracking code number on the silver pouch, or you will have no way of tracking whether or not the passports are on their way back to you. (You might as well get your money's worth out of Special Delivery by tracking it neurotically at midnight the night before the postman turns up with the passports, I felt!)

Make sure to include a note giving your names, return address for the passports, plus your e-mail address and phone numbers to make it easy for London to contact you if they need to.

Roll on Monday, eh?

RTake care

Gill

I'm not letting myself get quite that convinced :) It's really really weird! The whole thing seemed more immediate when we were talking in months - I can't believe how antsy I'm getting over a few days - it still doesn't feel like it's going to happen, despite it all being over bar the shouting.

Our sponsors are beginning to get frantic - they had a mad rush around (almost a year ago now!) preparing rooms for us, but then promptly got back on with their lives, whereas we're still in upheaval. Now that they've completed the AoS stuff, though, it's starting to come home to them :)

We'll see what happens on monday.

In the meantime, I have a reasonable amount of Hobgoblin to consume :)

Hi everyone
My fiance got his Prospective Marriage Visa yeah!!!!!!!! he has sent his passport off to London today by courier because we were told by immigration in London that he could not take the passport in person... the letter he received also said do not send pre-paid envelopes for the return of the visa as they use their own express service to return the passport in 7 - 10 working days.... just wondering if most people get their passports back quicker than this? *fingers crossed*

Mine was back in less than a week and that included it going via the agent. I sent it to the agent, they sent it to Australia house, got it back and then sent it on to me in a final hand over pack.
