Help on getting my parents to Oz.

Hi I am well on my way with the subclass 136, my sister has also nearly finished her application. My parents are getting on a bit and neither of us want to leave them, we didn't realise how difficult it would be to get them there.
Does anyone know if it's possible for them to come out to Oz with us and then apply for permenent residency and not have to come back to the UK.
They don't have enough finances for the contributory visa.

Hello Rache

Please just bear with me for a few hours. I PROMISE to reply to you within 48 hours and tonight if I possibly can, but right now I am cooking supper for my elderly Mum who is leaving for Australia tomorrow.

Mum is very lucky. We have recently managed to get a Contributory Parent visa for her, but it has taken 13 long years to get it (in effect.) The reason is because we had hassle with the Balance of Family test and had to wait for a subtle change in the Law before Parent migration became possible for my mother.

I'm not a Migration Agent but I am an English-trained lawyer, and I dealt with Mum's recent application myself. I'm not an expert on Australian Migration Law by any means, but nobody has swotted up on the Parent stuff as much as I have lately, that is for sure.

I promise to get back to you as soon as I can.

Best wishes

Gill
