student visa probs

Hi Lesley
Not at the moment, he has a place at Uni but is not starting until 2007 so at the moment he is employed, this is why we have the problem.
At the moment it looks like we will have to go out on my skilled visa and then he can follow when he is qualified and leaves uni. We dont really want to do that so we are looking for alternatives, any ideas will be greatly received,
Thanks
Paul

Our 18 year old has just finished a 2 year course and the agent told us to get him enroled on another course for september as that should be when our visa is granted (all being well). So we have been able to include him as a dependant on the main visa. Our 19 year old though goes to work so he is coming out on a working holiday visa but we are also looking into the apprentice visa. The working visa will allow him to stay for 2 years provided he does seasonal work (the list for which has just been extended) in regional OZ. Once the 2 years are up we can look at getting him permanent residency as last remaining family.
What stage are you at with the application :?:

We are at lodgement stage and awaiting for a CO hopefully within the next fortnight. We have frontloaded meds and police checks despite very loud protests from the agent so hopefully should have visa by about september  but not counting on anything going to plan as nothing has so far  If we can help with your application in any way let us know.

We are looking at going to Melbourne first as Paul liked the climat there when we visited last year. We loved Perth but we think it may be too hot for working in. How bout yourself :?:

We have relatives in a place called Mudgee, about 3 hours north west of Sydney (wine region). We went in 2003 and just drove up the coast a bit, all in NSW, weather is no problem for me, love the heat.
Thanks for the offer of help, very kind. we'll let you know when things kick off
Regards
Paul
