457 VISA education certificates
I am currently applying for jobs with the hope to get a 457 visa and have a phone interview almost arraganed for 1 role with potential sponsorship.
Now getting way ahead of myself I know but when looking at 457 visa requirements I noticed in order to prove my english is of a acceptable level I may require education certs from secondary school. Totally lost these as I left school over 15 years ago and never needed replacement certs as only had 2 jobs and 1st one worked my way up with internal promotions and 2nd got through my my work experience.
I have looked into getting replacements and seems fairly straight forward but takes 2-3 weeks but I reckon costs could be well over hundred pounds as each certiifcate cost £38 to replace and I would need my standard grade cert/higher cert and college cert.
Do I fork out now when I may never get anywhere near being offered a job or wait then run the risk of delaying application and peeing off potential employer??? Are these certifcates really required as sure work references would more than prove I have an acceptable level of English!!!
Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Hiya
I have just put in my application for a 457 last weekend and this is the question you are asked:
Applicant language skills
Is English your first language
Yes
If English is NOT your first language, have you undertaken an English test in the last 24 months?
If English is your first language you do not need to use your certificates to prove your English proficiency. But, depending on what sort of job you are going for, you might need to upload them anyway - for my job, I had to upload both my degree and PhD certs, but not my A levels or GCSE's.
Hope this helps, please let me know if you need help with anything else and good luck!!

If you hold a UK passport this will prove Competent English.

they might ask for a letter from your school or even just a statutory declaration to say you were schooled in the uk and that alongside a uk passport might be ok depending on your job. i know for me ( nurse) the certificates were not enough unless there was the name of the school etc.. I panicked did the ielts and all they asked was a statuatory declaration ( and copies of my nursing qualifications..)

Thanks very much for all your responses! Think I will hold off as its down to my experience should I get the role, rather than qualifications.
