457 visa for a Market Research Job

Hi everyone, this is my first post although I've been a "lurker" for a few months now.

My husband is currently looking for market research positions within the Melbourne area and I was wondering if anyone else has managed to secure a 457 visa in a similar job environment? (Most of the 457 visas I have read about seem to be for nursing or trade jobs.) He had a telephone interview last Monday with the MD of a company and we are now waiting to hear back from that. He is really keen to get the job and it fits all the criteria he's looking for so we are waiting impatiently.

Any help or advice from anyone who has or is going through a similar job scenario would be gratefully received.

The likelihood of sponsorship would depend on what your husband does in the market research area.

Agreed. It is not possible to be sponsored just because you have an interested employer. It totally depends on the job and his qualifications and experience.

Hi - thanks for your posts. He has +15 yrs experience and is currently in a global role based in the Uk but we are looking to move abroad. His job is currently on the CSOL list for Australia so when we saw some similar roles advertised he decided to give it a go. It is a big gamble for a company to take and whether or not an Australian can fill the role but you don't know unless you try. He has been perfectly honest on his letter and CV and they are aware he would need sponsoring so it's just a waiting game now.
