Has anyone travelled with the visa stamp in their passort

I've renewed mine and my 11 year old's passports and obviously the new ones don't have the stamps in them. I understand and have downloaded the form 929(I think that's the number, though I don't have it to hand). It looks a bit of a hassle, but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with travelling without it in our passports. Do I need it or is it computerised, and taking the old passport with us as well would suffice?

I think as long you carry the old passport with the stamp in and produce both together you will be fine. This is what ive read from a few members and its worked for them without hassle.

It's all electronically linked to your passports.
Presumably you have sent the form 929 off to DIAC, have they not confirmed the change of passport numbers ?
Best thing to do is ring DIAC and confirm what passport numbers they have on your visa, if it's correct then you'll be fine - if it's still on the old ones you will find out at check in !

Have downloaded the form but not sent off as I wasn't going to bother if not essential (loads on at the mo and haven't had time to sort), but will now deal.

      Thanks both.

I was told once to send the new and old passports to Australia house in London and they would sort it out in your new passports. Seems a silly hassle to me, surely it's logged on some system somewhere that you have the visa?

Just renewed my hubbies passport, last minute we go in 5 weeks, anyhow completed 929 form after talking through on the phone, and got an email (2 dAYS LATER...) Saying all done and visa tagged into passport electronically, no need to show old passport. However he will still carry it so that it is obvious to them that cant see electronically... very quick though and very impresssed with Oz house...

The visa is attached to your old passport electronically. Australia immigration does not know you have a new passport and the new passport does not have a visa associated with it.

If you don't have time to get the visa transferred to the new passport (be it physically or even electronically it will not happen by itself), then travel with both passports. But if you do have time, then you should notify Australia of your new passports so that they can electornically connect the visa and new passport. Or you could go the extra step and get the visa label in new passport as well. Personally, I would not want to spend years travelling wiht two passports and constantly explaining that the visa is in the expired passport, I would transfer it.

Agree with others, you do not need your visa stamped in your passport, its all electronic, we didnt bother getting our PR one stamped as they said we did not need too and travelled back to the Uk for a holiday with no issues..

Whilst the visa is valid in the expired passport, I would tell them and get it linked to the new, so you do not have to carry both about..
