Do I need an employer to sponser me if I want to contract there for 3 month or more?
Im unemployed with no house in Liverpool.
Ive a cousin in Perth who can house me for a week or two.
I have an IT degree and 41 of age, I want an IT job in Perth so I think its better to be there to apply than here.
Can I go over as a tourist and work legally for a company, or do I need a visa, holiday visa???

Hi,
You can not go over on a tourist visa and work.
Have a look at the following website: http://www.immi.gov.au/visawizard/
It will say which visa's you could be eligible to apply for based on the information you give.

maybe would be a good idea to go out there and search around. Maybe some employer could sponsor you if you really pulled out the stops and looked hard. Is pricey to get out there though if you have no cash.
tip don't carry cv with you in your baggage store it online and download it while you are there
Anyway good luck!

You can not work in Australia on a Tourist visa - also if stopped at the border if they think you are going to be working etc, you could be sent back to UK, with a 3 year ban.
You could try to gain sponsoship here - if you do decide to head to Australia - you need to show that you are a genuine tourist/visitor to Australia.

If immigration would refuse someone at the Airport and deport/ban them for having a CV in their bag then they would hardly be impressed at someone pounding the streets applying for jobs.
The employer only has to phone immigration to do a VEVO check and they are scooped.

Obviously the op would have to tell the employer they needed sponsorship. And I have not had one employer know how to look up my visa status.
How long have you been out of work op?
