NVQ2 equivalent in Australia?

I have an NVQ2 in health and social care, when we eventually get to Aus I want to get a care assistant job....do you think they'll accept my qualification? On most websites it says you need a level 3 in aged care....whatever that is!

Nothing much on TV so did a bit of surfing! Is this the qualification? http://training.gov.au/Training/Details/CHC30312 . No idea if you can transfer your UK qualification to Aus though.

Yeah, think the emphasis is on the cert 3, I just hope my nvq2 is accepted as I don't want to have to go to tafe to get a qualification that enables me to do care work, want to go straight into it!

I can't imagine they would make it easy for you and give accreditation for prior learning so you only have the odd module to complete. Perhaps it is worth contact one of the training providers and ask them the question - send them a copy of your NVQ breakdown.

Hi,

I did my cert 3 in aged care and disability care while I was in oz a couple of years ago. Did the course at tafe in mandurah, also did my senior first aid course while at tafe as well. It was not a very long course...couple of months max and did a placement while on the course...hope this helps.

That would suck! If it's only a couple of months it'd be okay tho, i have good care work experience i don't want it counting for nothing!
