Feeling so negative right in middle of this so hard to judge........ thoughts please

As you know we have had a rocking ride, as I know lots of us have. Not easy this Oz thing. I am getting so down with the roller coaster ride, one minute its on the next its off. Feel like am going nuts, I know others feel like this too but I losing hope.

As some of you know we waiting for job offer, this came and was all joy. Then went wrong as no 457 sponsership through agency available as promised employer did not want a contractor. More waiting while employer decided if they wanted DH, they did decide they did had valuable skills not able to find anywhere else! More waiting while employer decided if they were prepared to sponsership. Waiting again! Positive result they did want to, then more waithing for contract... more waiting.... being promised it was coming..... more waiting......DH told contact coming in a day or so. Then employer said they wanted to take a Sychometric test. And skype chat with member of team to make sure they were all happy to work together. Not to decide if he has job but to make sure they knew how to manage him, as last person left and they didn't want DH to leave. Test taken, Wednesday our time skype called failed as person was not available.... more waiting.....more waiting employer waiting for results of test. The employer has called DH directly and had a chat and apologised for everything taking so long. Emailed DH to say result should of been with them Monday oz time. Employer still waiting for results of test!!! Have been told they should be there Oz time Tuesday, and skpe chat will happen in next day or so. I wonder at this point which has been nearly six weeks. Will this contract ever come? Are they still interviewing (they told us no they have tried to find someone with right skills and they can't and DH has the skills).
Does it sound like we are being impatient? I am worried as we are so close yet so far. The pressure is mounting at our end buyer hoping to move into our house at the end of this month! (could move into rented if this all comes off so not really an issue if it get sorted. thoughts please I know oz things happen slowly.........

Regret for the things we did can be tempered by time; it is regret for the things we did not do that is inconsolable.

      And . . . . . . . . .

      Breathe

Yes, I think the contract will come, yes things happen in their own time.

I applied for a job in Jan, did not hear anything for at least 4 weeks, probably longer, then got an e mail apologizing for the delay and they would be in touch soon.

Got a phone call about a month later, inviting me to interview the next Tues. ha d interview, did not hear by the end of that week, did not hear all the following week, finally heard I got the job the Fri after that, more than 2 weeks, I was nearly bald!

Handed my notice in the day I got the phone call, expected the formal offer early the following week, FINALLY got that today! A week later

So, yes things do take their own sweet time and I can tell you I have become much more patient and do not stress nearly as much as I used to (well not. Usually) if things are taking longer than I think they should.

The time difference makes it worse for you I am sure

I would not be surprised if things Are still a bit up in the air until Friday.

If they are sorted befor then - BONUS

Will be thinking of you, take care

I feel for you - the journey to Oz seems fraught with problems for lots of folks and you have certainly had more than your fair share

Unfortunately I think you just have to be patient and hope that the Skype call does happen and that the firm does receive the report - and soon. It seems to be well known on PIO that employers etc in Oz are very laid back. It is hard when you are over here and have little or no control over the situation. It really is a roller coaster of a ride.

Just take yet another deep breath and have a large stiff drink and hold in there

Its a slow and painful process!

Applied for my position in first week February, only formally offered contract 27th April, visa lodged today. So, expect a 3-4 month timeframe.

      Seems like the Aussie way!

Thanks for support guys I know this is the Aussie way, and part of the reason why we want to go.....but the company themselves said they wanted DH there yesterday...... type of thing so a little frustrating. Will wait until tonight again for more new and calls back and forth with the employement agent. Sister and brother already live in oz so want to get out there to be with family..... !

You could easily walk away from this particular company and look elsewhere, if he found interest with them he could find interest with someone else, with so many stops and starts its obvious they are one of those companies that string people along making them feel uncertain, whether or not they have work.

The main thing is the visa and leaving for a new life on a good note, forget the rotten one and look for a new apple.

Hi. We understand what you're going through but don't be put off by how long things take. We had a similar roller coaster ride after being interviewed 3 times then bein offered job and it taking 5 weeks to get visa approval. Plus we waited so long to fid the right company / job role. It takes a long time unfortunately - id hold in there. just try to think of the end goal of living in oz.
we are moving in 5 weeks after what feels like an eternity getting to this stage.
Hold in there and hopefully something will be finalised soon,
      best of luck,
      paula & Jay x

Dont worry flo, they are soooooo laid back, don't forget us English expect things "now" and we are always under the rat race pressure. They wouldn't have put so much effort in so far if they didn't want to proceed plus they are obviously being cautious after the other person left. The visa ride is utter ball ache and you do feel like you wont ever get there but you will! Hang in there x

Everyones problems are relative to themselves and I've always been one to take a step back and think that no matter what problems we face in life
there are always people who would gladly swap their problems for our own...

Just reading your post has me thinking that everything is in place its just taking a little longer to come to fruition than desired...

Take a step back and ask yourself at this point "What can I do to speed it up?" The answer is.... nothing....
So stick the kettle on, watch a good film and let it happen...
I look forward to your post when you get the big thumbs up!!

      Best wishes Peter!!
