Help Neeed! Any advice on retraining to get back into Oz

      Hi!

Im 25 and for the last 2 years i have been on WHV based in regional WA (Karratha). I was offered sponsorship twice which both times fell through at the last hour.

Im now back in the UK and desprate to get back to OZ as my life is out there now not in the UK.

I know i have to retrain to get back into Oz however most training courses i will do will be 2 years and im worried that in this time the occupation on the skills list will get knocked off.

I was thinking about getting a foundation degree in Hospitality mangement and to apply as a Duty Manager as this is what i have the most relevant experince in.

But is there any other trade or skill which would be quicker? or easier to train in to get me back out there asap??

Any advice would be much apprciated.

      Thanks!

Have you looked into studying over in oz? I know its expensive but if you qualified there you can apply for visa onshore and possibly get employer sponsor as you would have the degree. Tricky to say as they change the skills list all the time. If I was to place a bet, i would go for a trade i.e carpentry as it will never be off the list. Do you think you could master it? Might actually be cheaper to do carpentry course in oz than a uni degree plus you can earn and learn. Good luck anyways, must be very annoying when you know where you belong.

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply, i have looked into a student a visa and done the maths but i just dont think i would be be able to support myself only working the 20 hours a week. I dont have savings or money from family. So looks like im stuck here for at least 2 years! I was thinking of going down the route of doing a more hands on trade however being a girl im worried that employers wouldnt hire me.
Yeah it is very annoying being back here knowing that my life is on the other side of the world :(

Aussies tend to steer towards men, they can be quite "traditional" like that. What about hairdressing? Prob quicker than anything like accounts or nursing plus way cheaper! Also, its a way of earning while you learn and from home. Looking into it myself when I land. Most colleges do a range of courses from full time to evening. Maybe google your local college x

I personally wouldnt bother about Hairdressing - it is very hard for Hairdressers now (its on SOL 2 and requires state sponsorship, and not many states sponsor) - and you would need the qualification and 3 years work experience or if you train as an apprentiace you need 8 years (training and 3 years work exerpience).

Nursing might be a good option - have a look at SOL 1, see what is one there.
