AHPRA and 457 Processing times - My experience

      Job offer - 15/09/2011
      Ahpra sent - 30/09/2011
Ahpra Letter of Eligibility - 20/01/2012
      457 sent 23/02/2012
Meds 27/02/2012 - Only req for me not hubby
      Meds Approved 02/03/2012
      457 granted 13/03/12

The AHPRA registration was by far the most difficult part of the process.
there are plently of other threads with good guides of what is needed for this process. I would advise you to take the time to make sure all docs are included and correctly notorised if required. Remember you WILL require a transcript from your college that gives details hours spent on theory subjects and practical placements. Its not a bad idea to get the ball rolling on that one asap

457 is frontloaded with TRN from employer
Used the Evisa system to upload:
      Passports - me and hubby
      AHPRA letter of eligibility
      employment contract
      Police check
      2 charactor references
Health insurance - see below *****
      Nursing degree cert

we were not 100% about private health insurance so started digging in these forums

After reading many posts on this forum re visa entry requirements for health insurance and reciprical health care we decided to take a Annual Travel Policy for the 2 of us for £62.20 with admiral and register for medicare after arrival - with the hope that a screen print of the certificate would satisfy our CO.

      JACKPOT

      Visa granted today.

      Hi

You time lines look very similar to ours (only i'm about two week behind you), my wife is also a nurse and she had her medical last Friday, results all submitted, just (impatiently) waiting for the final confirmation that it is granted! I noticed on your timeline you have granted on the 2/3/12 then 457 granted on the 13/3/12. What is the difference in the two?

No. You first start the visa application. you will get an email the next day which has a link to medical section of app forms. you choose a hospital near you, then print out the form. Book meds and take forms with you- the hospital then forward your forms to either your visa agent, or direct to OZ

The main reason you dont do meds before visa is because not everybody needs a medical - my hubby didnt.

      Hi,

Can I please ask, what was your experience with getting your registration once you arrived in Oz? I have a letter from AHPRA advising to attend with various documents etc. I contacted them regarding the criminal record check (for which I have none) and they have advised that they carry this at that time. I am concerned as to the time it may take for a criminal record check to be carries out, when I have a job to go too when I arrive? Is there any way around this prior to leaving the UK?
      Any advice regarding this welcome
      Thanks
      L
