Visa Stamp
Hi, I received my temp partner visa 2 years ago this August and was asked to send my passport to Australia House for a visa stamp.
Having taken everything down in person upon application I ended up sending my passport via recorded delivery , receiving it back virtually return of post. I think that the visa stamp in your passport depends very much upon the visa that you have been granted. When we travelled to validate the visa immigration didn't even look at it, just stamped the passport as normal, so the electronic visa clearly overrides the physical visa stamp.
Good luck with the journey

You don't have to get it stamped but personally I think it is a good idea too. You can send it by post and as someone said you will get it back almost by return.
The stamp comes in handy for all kinds of reasons, employers, medicare, rentals, car loans etc.
Also the system is not infallible, my husband's visa does not seem to be registered in either the VEVO system (which employers can use to check status) nor in the NZ immigration system (Australian PR should get NZ PR on arrival, my husband nearly got sent back on the next plane!). He has fortuantely not had any trouble getting in and out of Australia so that must be a slightly different system. Still it is comfrorting to see it in the passport.
