Potential migrant from Scandinavia: pls assist

      Hello All.

I am holding an IT related position within a pharmaceutical industry in Denmark, having Danish nationality, looking for options to migrate to Australia, having just turned 44 in January I have my worries about the age limit.

I am pretty new to it and will appreciate if you can advice/ show a way around and how to figure/navigate through the conundrum of Australian migration laws and regulations.

Thanks very much and good to be here and all help will be appreciated :o)

      Cheers,
      geves

You can't have turned 45 when you apply for an independent or state sponsored visa but the clock stops then and it doesn't matter how old you are when the visa is actually granted. At 44, you will have difficulty getting the required 120 points for an independent visa though you should be able to manage the 100 required for a state sponsored visa.
Skilled – Sponsored (Migrant) Visa (Subclass 176) Current points test for state sponsored visa

After 1 July, the age limit rises to 49 though I can't see how anyone who hasn't worked and studied in Australia could get to the required 65 points at anything over age 44.

For a state sponsored visa, your occupation must be listed on the State Migration Plan (SMP) for one of Australia's states or territories and you must obtain state sponsorship before you can apply for a visa. You must also do IELTS and obtain a positive skills assessment before you can lodge a visa application and that is going to leave you very short of time to get a visa application in before the end of June.

For an IT related position, the skills assessment body is the Australian Computer Society (ACS):
