Police certificate, married name?
Hi anyone with info for an idiot! (me)
I have been looking at the police cert applications for U.K in hope of getting a C.O soon (
).
I have just realised that apart from our bank account, all my other proof of address are in my maiden name as seemed far too complicated to change them all if moving abroad soon (this was two years ago!) Is it okay to use these as i have put my maiden name on the form, or does it look dodgy and i should start changing my name on bills? (which I really would not look forward to). Anyone know?
Thanks
Gill x

Many women in australia choose to use their own names and it isnt mandatory to change after marriage. Our application went in with his and hers being different with no questions asked, all it means is you may want to remember to book tickets in the name that is in your passport.
good luck

I got my police clearance done last week and and brought my birth cert and marriage cert with me. Although i do go by my married name, the guard still advised to put my maiden name in brackets after my name as i have been married less than 10 years. He was also very helpful as they are well used to getting people in requesting these forms so know exactly what is needed.
As long as you have those certs with you, i dont think there is anything to worry about.
I would stick with the name thats on your passport and support this with the birth/marriage certs.
I got mine done in Ireland.
Good Luck
