      Priority processing 2 or 3?

I have viewed PomsInOz for the past 2 years however this is the first time I have posted anything, thanks you guys for being so informative and entertaining during the dark and uncertain times of visa prosessing!
I am unsure of the priority group I should be in as I lodged my 175 on the 6th of Feb 2010 and recieved 176 sponsorship from QLD on the 1st Dec 2010.
My Occupation is not on the Qld (176) SMP( a very short list) but is on the Qld (475/487) SMP, my occupation is on the SOL list.
Since the release of the Qld SMP have I moved from priority 3 to 2 or am I still in priority 3 ?????

I think that you are still in Cat 3 because you are a 175/176 applicant and not a 475/487 applicant.
      Lodged 175 - 11 Dec 08, App SS WA - May 09, Granted 19/8/09, Frontloaded med and PC-July 09, redone August 2010......VISA GRANTED 10/12/2010

Hello Inuit.....There is a good news and a bad news....bad news is that as far as I think you will not be moved to priority 2, because your sponsorship was for Qld 176 and not for Qld 475/487. Your application with DIAC will also be launched as 176 not as 475/487. However I am not the expert, I am just trying to make logic.

The good news is that since there are so few occupations in the smp that I believe DIAC will rush through them in 3-4 months and because of the tough criteria the new inflow of applicants will also be slow. This means that even if you stay in priority 3, hopefully you will get a CO within 6-8 months. And believe me this is quick. There are people in this forum who have the state sponsorship for more than a year but still waiting.

      Wish you best of luck.

Hi I think 475/487 are for those that apply on shore that already live in Aus and 176 is for those that are applying off-shore so it looks like you are priority 3, at the moment they are allocating co to those in priority 3 that lodged around feb march 09.

Not sure about the 487 but a 475 is an offshore visa and the difference to the 176 is that it permits the applicant to live in is regional areas only. It is also a provisional visa and does not grant PR immediately. Nothing to do with onshore / offshore.

Inuit - I would agree with everyone else, if you are not on the 176 SMP list than you are not category 2.

Good news!!!!!!! my migration agent must have been right all along, today I received confirmation that I have a case officer and I have 28 days to complete my medicals.
Good news for all the 176 Qld state sponsored whose occupation is not on the 176 SMP(tiny list) but on the 475 Provisional SMP!!!!!!
All the best to everyone and I hope many of you have a very merry christmas xx
