We are gonna do the same Paula re. having a letter from our previous landlord (my hubby's parents!! lol) - got a fab reference from our dog trainer too. The emails I'm getting back from real estate agents in Oz are saying at push 2 dogs MAYBE allowed, but 3 is a big 'no-no'!!!
We don't mind renting a house with land if that's what it takes...apparantly you have to have at least 1/2 an acre to apply for a permit for the 3rd. It's just that I'd rather not fly our dogs over to the other side of the world - have them in quarantine - then discover no-one will rent us their property 'cos we have 3 dogs!!! You can't believe a country with soooo much space put a limit on owning 3 tiny fur-balls! I bet mine look like what's dropped off the brush after you've groomed yours! lol Makes no sense that it isn't calculated on the size of the dog eh?
I'm probably feeling more apprehensive as I'm still in the UK and just sat researching on the internet, doing our rekkie trip in Easter 2009 so will see how the land lies once we get there. Be nice if we could get our doggie permit before flying the dogs over!
Thanks for your support Paula, really appreciate it.

hi we came over with two huskies and we were told by a few people that they wernt allowed inside so now i just lie and say they will be outside dogs we have a nice 4 bedroom with a pool and we have the dogs in. as long as you dont live next to the owner lol. your dogs arent as big as mine also i typed up a letter from my mum in the uk who i made out was my landlady, just stating that we paid the rent on time and that the dogs didnt do any damage and that if we returned to the uk she wouldnt hesitate giving us a rental, they never rang the landlady (my mum) lol. good luck
