  1. Hey Daniel Come and meet me! I'm having a hard time making friends just now lol, my life has become work-sleep-beach-work...which isn't all that bad but it's always good with some company! Hoping to get over to Melbourne, Adelaide and the Gold Coast next year so any buddies on my travels there would be good! x
  2. It's pretty difficult Tom, I'm here nearly four months and I'm working casual hours in a chippy to get by, it's hard to survive sometimes! But I totally echo what Jonathon said. Join every single forum and Facebook Pom page you can. This was the only way I got my job, SEEK and Gumtree weren't proving very helpful!
  3. Count me in for this too! I've kinda drifted off the forum the last couple months so haven't been keeping tabs on what's happening, but any social gatherings - I'm there
  4. I do, search for Andrew Higgins - cheesy smile and a grey shirt haha!
  5. If any of you guys ever fancy meeting up for drinks and a chat about plans when you get here give me a shout, always on the lookout for new friends....even though I've only been here three weeks haha!
  6. I'm in Perth...been here 6 days, now I just need to find a job haha!
  7. Aww man I feel for you, that sucks! Well on the plus side at least your travel is sorted, onwards and upwards pal! In a few months this will be a distant memory when your lying on the beach with a beer haha good luck for your travels!
  8. Yeh Danny that sounds crazy - cancel, I completely agree!!
  9. Hey Stacey I paid £1000 flying from Edinburgh to Perth on the 4th of August with Qatar Airlines, returning for the 14th of May next year. If I want to change the return date just need to phone up and it's a £75 fee
  10. Yeh I'd quite like to see spend some time in Perth, Brisbane and then the Gold Coast. Of course I'll need more money for all this so I'm hoping to maybe work even for the first 6-7 months (as boring as this may sound lol) and see what happens to be honest. Sounds like a plan, don't really fancy my chances by myself on some random farm either haha!
  11. It's a Visa Debit, on the new current account and there's no monthly fee, pretty good! From what I've gathered flat pack there's no longer an account like that with Nationwide, I've got an account with them and went through them all.
  12. Hi guys. This is my first post here so be nice haha. I'm landing into Perth on the 5th of August on a WHV, and as many others have done, been looking at the best way to manage my UK finances when I arrive in Australia with regards to transferring money over etc.... Done quite a bit of research with all the UK banks to find out what my options are and I thought it was worth putting it out there that's Marks & Spencer have brought out a new current account which enables you to withdraw cash free worldwide from ATM's - without the foreign exchange charge! I thought this was worthwhile posting as it might be pretty good for anybody in similar circumstances to save yourself some pennies when you're thinking of setting off on your travels! Andrew :-)
  13. Hey Jessica, flying into Perth on the 5th of August on a WHV (although I'm not an au pair haha). Staying with friends when I arrive then who knows what will happen!
  14. I'm also part of the 'sick of my job' gang haha! I'm arriving into Perth on the 5th of August on a WHV and just looking to achieve as much as I can while I'm in Oz!
  15. Hi Sam/Mexpirate, I'm also moving out to Oz this year on a WHV. Arriving into Perth on the 5th of August and going to stay with friends in the Joondalup area. I'm in the same boat, looking to get some kind of agricultural work done so I can stay for the second year, but I suppose my main focus is actually finding any job first.
