  1. When I applied for my 417 in 2014 it was granted within a few hours.
  2. I've never had a confused look ordering a pint in WA... now SA you order a pint and then they're confused with their two different types
  3. I think you must've seen someone who didn't know what they were doing!

That's quite concerning that they put a hole through your UK license. They don't have a remit to null documentation issued by a different country you're a citizen of or to remove it from you. What I think they've misunderstood is that if you change to a Vic license from a different state that is when they do that to your old license. In WA they remove it from you at the point of giving your new license - but only in the case of it being a license issued by a different state.
  5. I have to say I find it amusing how some of you never see any spiders including red backs despite living here for years. Must be city dwelling I can say that this year alone in Albany WA I've seen a couple of dozen red backs and a few wolf spiders whilst doing the garden. When at work in Wagin (country WA) I couldn't even begin to list how many red backs I've seen. See a few huntsmen a year and white tail spiders too. So they are there. But I know when I first came over I was paranoid about spiders and would check the corners of rooms etc when I went in them. Now I don't even worry, infact the Red Back siting on the garage roll door I've just left there to happily while away her life until she moves... Not to mention the Christmas spiders and golden orb spiders I've seen too... Surprisingly I've not been bit and I don't know anyone who has been bit in the past few years that I've been here. And like the above, I'll take the spiders over the stink bugs!
  6. Are you sure? I thought that this has only been discussed but not enacted yet. https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/417 There's also been no change on the website regarding the age change. But then again the website isn't always the bastion of correct information
  7. Not particularly, the UK asks for 5 years resident in the country of which one of those years must be 'indefinite leave to remain'. So it's one extra year over the old regs (or as they currently are with the freeze). new regs here (if they pass) will just mean all your non permanent residency won't count towards being able to get citizenship.
  8. Unfortunately the original quote is correct. I understand what you went through but your life is not in jeopardy. but it is extremely annoying and has your life on hold effectively.
  9. Is your job on the four year TSS visa list? If you can share a snippet of news it might help other people in the same situation
  10. If your job is on the STL list then it's not a route to permanent residence. the TSS visa has two streams and the STL list occupations are only valid for a 2 year temp visa.
  11. I'd also have a look at www.thejobshop.com.au as they can have quite a few regional jobs across WA and NT.
  12. Correct! Both came through today. No documents requested.
  13. Well, hold that train of thought, I got the call and email this morning - how very exciting! Occupation was Office Manager in regional WA Good luck to all
  14. Nothing yet for a 2nd April 2016 Nomination Fingers crossed to hear before Easter.
