  1. Planning a big adventure, have a car (the mighty Hyundai Getz! 2005 with 90,000km on the clock) with rooftop tent and all the gear ready to go, car has just had a full service and new timing belt - air-con works perfectly , First leg starts from Perth towards the end of January, heading to Melbourne via Esperance & Adelaide. My journey will continue to Tasmania, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns, Alice Springs, Uluru, Darwin, Broome etc and take approx 4 months in total. Let me know if you would be interested in joining for a particular leg of the trip or the whole thing. The plan is to keep costs to a minimum so will primarily be looking for free spots to parkup/sleep & meet people - petrol & food costs will be minimal (around 6c per km each), cooking budget meals on two camping stoves/barbeques and stocking up at supermarkets along the way. Travel buddy will require: Camping chair, bedding or sleeping bag & a spare tent for backup or if we are entertaining guest(s) The plan is to see as much of the wildlife, beaches, national parks and other places of interest and spend only short amounts of time in the cities - plans/timescales still very loose at the moment so shout if you have a particular route or destinations in mind and we can plan accordingly I'm 30 and English, ideally looking for someone who has excellent spoken English as we will be spending a long time chatting
  2. Will arrive in Perth 10th September if you decide on the West Coast, will be looking to get regional work sorted asap (hopefully not too far from Perth) then going for an explore in a camper in the new year, - also travelling solo and on the look out for buddies that fancy an adventure
  3. You got any plans to travel around once the regional work is sorted? I won't be far from you when I am in Perth so let me know if you fancy grabbing a brew once I get out there - maybe swap tips if either of us can track down any promising agricultural work, really hoping to find something with a few vacancies so I get a chance to meet other travellers rather than ending up being on my own on some scary farm in the middle of nowhere or something.
  4. Hey there, I am flying out to Perth 4th October and hoping to do some regional work nearby for a few months - then looking to travel from the start of February and see all the sights, loose plans at the moment but going to hire a camper and probably head to esperance, adelaide, melbourne, hobart, canberra, sydney, newcastle, brisbane, cairns, alice springs, darwin, broome, exmouth. Flying solo at the moment and on the look out for new friends in Perth (Oct-Jan) and travel buddies (Feb-May)
  5. That's my plan all being well - or alternatively you can apply for residency via the skills route if applicable. 6-8 months travelling will leave me 16 months to find an employer that's prepared to sponsor me, or find an Aussie girl of course in the first year and then no problems If that looks unlikely I will try for points based skills application but my skills are only on the secondary list so not sure of the chances and also costs a lot.
  6. Hey there, I am heading out to Perth on my own arriving 5th October and also staying for 1-2 years maybe more, will be selling the car soon to top up the travel fund then hoping to buy a small camper and go for one hell of drive. I need to get my regional work out of the way to start with so I can extend my visa (turn 31 in March) - if you want to work near Perth, Swan Valley is ideal or Gingin is also very close but not sure what vacancies are likely to be around at that time of year.
  7. Well flight is booked and Visa granted, the plan is to start out in Perth for a few weeks staying with my brother - then head out for regional work for 3 months to be completed in January, ideally around the Greater Perth area, labouring/construction isn't really my thing so guess I am looking for harvest work but seems scarce from the little research I have done so far in the areas I am interested in. Once regional work is complete plan to jump in the car/mini-camper and drive East taking in all the sites for a few months atleast. After any advice on finding work within a few hours drive of Perth, is it realistic to expect to get paid a reasonable amount ($15+ an hour) and have accomodation provided? I am travelling on my own so keen to find a job placement where I can meet a few people for onward travels and that seems more likely on the East Coast? Anyone on here got any work or looking for work around the same time or have plans to travel from January-April? - my plans are very loose at the moment but finding a travel buddy will cut cost considerably so let me know if you fancy a possible road trip. I'm Male, 30 - Hence the need to complete regional work before end of February!
