  1. That was one way. I dont intend on coming back anytime soon lol. The airline has got such bad reviews. but the price is cheap. so its catch 22.
  2. I've found some cheap deals for mid September into Sydney from London for a low as £450 trouble is its flying with "China eastern". I've read loads of bad reviews about them. I found them on sky scanner. Im not too fussed about the IFE or gimmicks but I wouldn't want to be uncomfortable for 20hrs of flying. Can anyone recommend any good deals or know of any good companies? Thanks in advance of
  3. Haha you'll be fine. Just pay for your flight ASAP mate they're cheaper now and plus you know your going if you've paid £600 odd out on flights.
  4. Thanks guys. Just told all the family and friends my plans to travel. So that's another step! My mate is there now and he landed in Sydney first ... But I guess it's personal preference. Hopefully I will keep meeting more people and get together some sort of rough plan. My whole life has been structured and planned with the army and fire service so with this stage of my life I want to be as unplanned as I can and go with the flow.
  5. Hey guys! Don't know where I'm starting off but it's gonna be in September if anyone wants to meet up.
  6. Hi all, been reading the forums for around 2-3 years now and now everything has falling into place so I am able to go travelling to Australia for a year on a WHV. Im 29 and a Firefighter so cant wait to get over there in the real heat :twitcy: Today is the first day im starting to make plans and do serious research. Not sure wheres best to fly to first, wheres best to work etc.. Just gonna keep researhcing and reading the forums. Anyone in the same boat feel free to speak up and lets do this!
  7. Thanks pommypaul,I've been reading tinGtongs blog about his travelling but other than that I can't find any long Indepth blogs or informative pages. I have read so much this week and I'm so very excited I just wanna research and get as much information as I can. Although I understand the last thing on travellers minds is to keep a blog for a year :-)
  8. Laying In bed with gf with 2 iPads reading this forum and doing our research!! gotta pay off bills and settle debts, which is why we've agreed on December time to go.
  9. Didn't know that mate! Thanks :-)
  10. Last night my GF and I decided that we should take a year out to travel around Australia and enjoy ourselves before we settle down and do that boring adult thing which involves kids and marriage :-) she is 22 and im 27 and we decided ages ago we want to live in australia but we think a WHV for a year would be better so we can explore, work on farms and look for places to live "if that's possible" in the future. So far our plan is only at the end of this year, and we plan to stay in Brisbane with her family whilst we do our 80 days work to gain our visa for the 2nd year. We aim to save save save whilst we work the 3 months and live with family to keep costs down. That way all the money we both save can be stores for when we explore the rest of oz after the 80days!! So far that is the only plan we have..but it's something and it's the start of a very long and very amazing journey!! You only live once and all that ... feel free to offer advise, tips and even criticism! All taken on aboard :-)
  11. I have set myself a 5yr target! I know this sounds a long way away but I dont want to half do this,I want to fully commit 100% to this as do my partner. This gives me time to save some money and do proper research. I know my partner was schooled there for a few years and she only moved back because her mum suffered from depression or they would of still been there now, however I wouldnt of met her then Would this give her/us a better chance as she was "on their books" before as to speak? Ile be honest it seems impossible for me to get to Oz at the moment and heres for why. No immediate sponsor No job offer No $39,0000000 in the bank lol this is why were giving ourselves 5yrs.
  12. Thank you Lady raincorn for your help! :-) we live together in my house, but nothing as proof,ie utility bills etc! Hmm this could be tricky for me then as she would qualify through her architecture degree. The little research ive done so far seems to suggest its more likely ide find employment in the police rather than the fire service. With my ex military service behind me that should help I hope.. Ide like to thank you all in advance for your help and advice.
  13. Haha thanks for the heads up, couldnt think of anything else to call the topic. Thanks for the welcome
