  1. Hi all, I've been seriously wanting to do my WHV for ages, and with my dad moving out it was either live alone, or travel Australia.. I chose Australia. Me and a friend are flying into Sydney on November 5th with no plans of anything as of yet. We are both 19 and go with the flow. Both are able to drive too, with me also having a motorcycle license. I understand Sydney is expensive so we'll do what we can there and then move on. We are both Advanced Scuba Divers, so we'll be diving everywhere we can. Any advice & tips would be awesome. Do you think we could book some kind of house/room share up before we even arrive or would that be hard to come by? I think we'll travel for a month, and then work after that. Cheers for reading, currently the nerves are setting in but I'm sure all will be good!
  2. Thanks everyone, good to read. I plan on doing farm/picking/rural work. I'm not keen on cities and hate being crowded. I'm guessing public transport is either zero, or nearly zero in rural areas so a car might be a must.
  3. I've got a full motorcycle license and will have my car license too before I go, I just don't know whether it's worth forking out for a car due to then I can't go anywhere I want as I'll be stuck with a car.
  4. One of my biggest worries about Australia and being on a WHV is how to get from A-B, getting from one job on one side of the country to a job the other side? How would you get from airport to job/job to airport etc... You get the gist Look forward to comments. Dan.
  5. Planning on going WHV to Aus end of 2014. I'm just wondering what peoples thoughts are on travelling alone or with someone. I know that if there's two of you, you'll need to find a job which will employ you both. If there's two of you, a car and transportation may be cheaper due to being shared. Thoughts? Cheers in advance. Dan.
  6. Hi all Have been ready through the forum for a while now but finally decided to join and ask my questions. So here it goes, I am currently an 18 year old full time student living in the UK studying Level 2 Motorcycle Mechanics, I also have a Level 1+2 Bricklaying qualification which as I can tell, both are what Aus is looking for. I am also self employed, as I run a growing Motorcycle Graphics Business online. My dream is to be in Aus, working and living but this is where I'm stuck. I'm trying to work out the best way to do it visa-wise etc. I am in the position that I can leave the business up and running here in the UK and I would like to setup another 'branch' in Aus where I'd like to live. I have family over there (cousins, uncles etc) and I will be able to stay in Sydney at minimum costs with a close family friend. I have all the funds needed but obviously would like to keep costs down to a minimum! I will be 19 in June 2014 if that helps. I'd love to be able to do what I'd like, as not many people can say they've setup two business' in two different countries by the age of 19/20! I know that I can go over for two years on a WHV providing that I do 88 days work in year one but I'm wondering that if I do that, could I setup my business and also what happens when the WHV expires? Could I return ASAP or do I have to wait a certain amount of time? Is there a visa which would allow me to enter and start my business which is not a WHV and also stay for a long time? Do my qualifications help? If anyone could tell me how it works, it would be much appreciated! I have probably forgot something important but hey ho! Cheers in advance!
