We are flying from Adelaide to Cairns on the 4th February for a week. Seems it's a bit of a minefield when it comes to hiring a car

Hi Guys. We are thinking of hiring a car during our vacation in Cairns, from this company http://www.apexrentacar.com.au/RentalCarLocations/cairns-airport-rental-cars-branch.aspx I'm up for it, but the other folks in the group think it's gonna be a hassle with the many add ons I'm looking for a deal with zero risk, ie.. for example if the vehicle was involved in a accident & was written off we wouldn't have pay out anything, I've also come across this company that specialize in insurance excess https://tripcover.com.au/index.php or should I go with majority and go with the many organized coach trips they have on offer up in Cairns, but looking @ the prices it's going to work out expensive, to my way of thinking hiring a car for a week, split 4 ways would be cheaper. your thoughts will be much appreciated.
