  1. I'm a heavy plant fitter to trade, I'm not in Sydney yet but will be there mid sept and I've spoke with a few recruitment agencies who know the market. They were really helpful and have set up meetings/interviews for when I arrive. maybe worth searching for trade specific or specialist recruitment agencies?
  2. Yeah I'm leaving a good stable job as a wind turbine technician behind to head over with the missus. She's a returning resident an I'm heading over on a whv for a year to see if I like it before going for a 457visa. We head out in September, got my visa through the other week there so very exciting. We're also selling up everything lol
  3. My whv took 2 days but that was because I had driving convictions an they wanted to know more about them
  4. Suppose I'm just used to basically no commute for work here in Scotland, will just need to wait an see what happens. few recruitment agencies have to me I will not struggle for work at all, hope there right lol!
  5. Cheers rupert, yeah manlys not definite yet just using that as a starting point as thts where my girlfriend previously lived.
  6. Hi, my names ross and new on this forum. So go easy on me lol I'm coming to oz in September on a whv 417 with my gf who is a returning resident? ( I wanted to get a feel for the place/country before I part with cash for a proper visa ) I'm a wind turbine technician here in Scotland and will have 1 years experience working on Siemens turbines, 1 year experience working as an agricultural engineer and 5 years experience as a heavy plant fitter for Scottish coal, one of the biggest if not biggest mining companies in Europe. My question is, what's the chances of gaining any kind of work like the above on a whv? Or what's the job opportunities like in Manly, Sydney thats relative to my skills??? cheers

  8. Aye sorry about that wasn't thinking. Iam a heavy plant fitter to trade with HGV mechanic trade papers I got in June there. I was told by immigration company, to meet the visa requirements I'd need a further 3 years work experience to be able to qualify for a skill assessment. Without a positive skill assessment I'm unable to apply for a skilled visa. I wanting to know if I can sit the skill assessment sooner, speeding up the whole process.
  9. Hi I recently done a points test with an immigration company. The letter also said I need three years experience before qualifying for a skills test, can I do this test early? also can I get the three years extra experience in oz then sit a skills test?
