  1. thanks man! i've read the season was to start in november, but i've called in yesterday and was told to wait a couple of days, so i'm gonna try again in about 10 days! I pretty much feel the same about the car, but if anyone has a car and wants to share the bills, that'd be great!
  2. Hey there! I'm Leo, 27 years old, from Argentina, currently in Goldcoast, but planning to reallocate to complete my 88 days in seasonal work, preferrably, near this area! I've been doing some calls, and all i got from Stanthorpe is that there's about 400 people there now, and only work for about 150, because the season hasn't started yet. I've also laid an eye on Boonah, Laidley and Gatton, which are about 100km away, but a common pattern i get is that they all say "it would be muuuuuch easier if you had your own car..." which, of course, i don't have yet, haha! Anyone wanting to do the same thing, with a car??? anyone wanting to share contacts, previous experiences you had in the area and so? thanks a lot!!!
  3. Hey man! i'm in Brisbane too! arrived just a couple days ago, planning to set up in Goldcoast for the summer, staying at Bunk hostel at the moment, how bout' you?
  4. Thanks for the quick reply, Queen! Actually, i'm from Argentina, 26 years old, got my bachelor degree in Economics last year, but my english isn't all that great. All my life i've been working in an office, so i guess it would be easier for me to start off that way, but to be honest, part of the spirit of this trip is to endeavor into new experiences, so really i'm open to all options. Only thing sure is that, if i want to opt for a second year, i'll have to work in the outback... But if i could, i'd like to spend most of the time in the city. It doesn't even have to be Brisbane, altough i'll be landing there. Sydney seems too expensive, but Melbourne would be an option too, hehe! Thanks a lot!
  5. Great tip about those cheap flights, Queen! any other airlines we should look for? I'm gonna be landing in brisbane on october 24th, carrying around 4500 US dollars. On my precarious figures, that should last for about 2.5 or 3 months, hoping that i'll find some decent jobs before that deadline. Of course, that money can last more or less, depending on what lifestile are you willing to accept. The WWOOF alternative allows you to live almost for free, but you'll probably have to give up living on the beach, for example. My plan is to look for a couple jobs in the city, earn as much money as I can in the first 6 months, then fullfill the 3 months required as regional work to qualify for a 2nd year, and then, if possible, use my savings to travel to SE Asia, but that's basically an idea. Is it too weird? Any ideas? would that money be enough or i'm just being unrealistic? How long would it take to find a job in the city? Thanks in advance!
  6. hey! pretty much the same here!! I was thinking more of Brisbane rather than Goldcoast, although it's still a chance, as in summer season there's a lot of hospitality jobs that I thought i could manage with. After that, i'll be doing my 3 months in farming, most likely somewhere on Queensland. I'm from Argentina, so i'll probably have a bit of trouble adapting to english (and to drive on the left side, haha!) but feel free to contact me if you need a travel partner!
  7. hey! i'm gonna be travelling from argentina to Dubai, on october 16th, stay there for a week, and then fly to Brisbane, landing there on friday morning (actually, 00:45am, haha!), where are you headed for, once in Australia?
