As above, Harvey Norman and The Good Guys are definitely worth a look, you could even browse their websites to compare prices... Kambo's are also pretty good for WA based shoppers

Hi again all. I successfully lodged my 820/801 onshore application at the Perth office at the end of December. Application was acknowledged and medicals requested on the 8th January. As my parents were over and we had a few other things planned I didn't go for my medical until the 6th Feb. Does anyone have any idea of when I will have a case officer assigned and a rough time frame for onshore PV decisions at the moment? DIBP say 9-12 months but surely that's just to cover themselves?

Is this for an 820/801? How long did it take you to fill out the online forms?

As above please. Immi website only states that they are closed on Bank Holidays i.e Xmas day but I know a few businesses have knocked off today, will they be open to make a payment on Monday? Or failing that do you know if the DIBP helpline will be manned? Thanks

Thanks Adam, helpful as always. Do you think this is a better option than sending a cheque, it should speed up the process by a few days should it not? By the way if I can probe you for more info, my 417 runs out on 03/01/14, do I need to state in my covering letter that I wish to apply for BVB or will they automatically check this? Do you have to wait to be assigned a C/O before your bridging visa is applied or will they do this before? My reasoning being that I'm pretty sure my 417 will expire before a C/O will be assigned...

As the switch has now been made to online apps for 820/801 DIAC will no longer arrange a physical appointment to lodge an application at a DIAC office. As neither of us are credit card holders and thus can't pay the fee by post, do you know if we attend in person without an appointment will they allow us to pay there and then? I forgot to ask this on the phone and don't fancy waiting half an hour again! And I don't fancy starting an online application after spending so long on the paper based! :skeptical: Thanks!

Thanks Adam, you've been very helpful on both threads I've asked questions. Britchick, are you sending in actual evidence where things like cards are concerned? Do you know if its acceptable to send countersigned photocopies of 'evidence' such as photos and the like or do they prefer the genuine stuff and then to post it back to you?

Surely us getting engaged only further demonstrates a 'Commitment to a shared life together to the exclusion of all others' and that the relationship is 'genuine and continuing'?...

I thought I just paid a fixed fee of $4575, or whatever it is? Biometrics? I wasn't aware of the need for fingerprinting or suchlike on 820/801?... Do they not have the ability to take fingerprints at the office where you lodge if this is the case?

Thank for your help I'd forgot that the same forms are used across multiple Visa types, so it does make sense that we'd still be 'de-facto' as opposed to engaged. Thanks for clarification on form 80 also

Uhhhh, does this mean we will HAVE to lodge online from next week? I've just spent months on our paper based application and only have a few weeks left on my 417, would HATE to have to swap over now for the sake of a few days!

This may seem like a stupid question, however, I would like advice from someone who has possibly been through this before and maybe even had an answer on this from an 'official' source... I am finalising my 820 application and making sure all sections are complete and accurate. I have been with the o/h for nearly 6 years, and we recently got engaged here in Oz. The engagement wasn't to start planning a wedding, heck, we don't know whether it will be one, three or five years down the track!?! So, on form 40SP do we still stick with 'Defacto', as the application originally was, or can we put engaged with 'N/A' or 'Unknown' on the Date of Intended Marriage? Like I said I know this may sound almost stupid, but I just want to make sure this is right. It may seem obvious that "of course its engaged", but I wouldn't want it to work against us if we put 'Engaged' without knowing a date and this then looking like we've just got engaged to enhance the visa application without any thought of marriage, when truth is, engagement was just the next step and something I had wanted to do for a long time, but never had the money or opportunity to in the UK, but have while in Oz. I'm thinking the truth (as always) would be best, but I just wanted to check if it's actually acceptable to put 'Unknown' on Date of Intended Marriage? Whilst we are on the topic, 820 is the 'Onshore Temporary Partner Visa', but I am hoping that due to the length of the relationship I can get assessed for PR (801) straight away, so do I file Form 80 (Personal Particulars) as an application for a 'Further Temporary Stay' or an application for PR? Or do I attach 2x Form 80's, one for 820 (indicating Temp) and one for 801 (indicating PR)? Thanks in advance for any help you are able to give. Regards Dan & Loz
