  1. Hi, As the title says I'm going to be traveling from Adelaide Hills (mount Barker) to Melbourne for the F1 in March. I know i could do this trip in a day but I'm going to be making the trip over 3 days traveling the great ocean road and camping for 2 nights, (either on a beach or in national parks). If anyone is interested in tagging along, you would be more than welcome. I can easily accommodate 3 people plus me in my vehicle, all i ask is that we split the fuel cost evenly. I have an idea on where I'm going to be camping but it can be changed to suit anyone else. I will be leaving on Sunday 9th March and arriving in Melbourne Tuesday 11th March. If anyone is interested feel free to PM me and we can discuss more.
  2. If i work a 38hr week i will pickup $676 after tax but this is because I'm an australian resident for tax purposes and get taxed less than being classed as foreign resident. This is mainly because i have been in one place for more than 6 months.
  3. So as the title says, anyone going?? Maybe we can get a group of us together for some drinks.
  4. I'm currently working on an apple orchard in the Adelaide hills as a casual worker and am being paid $20.67 hour which is the minimum wage for a casual worker. On top of this your employer should contribute into your superannuation which you can claim back after you have left OZ.
  5. Have a look into a cash passport, just google it, its owned by travelex. You can transfer money onto the card from your uk bank account for free and then use it as you would any mastercard, plus you can draw from most ATM's for free and use it in any shops for free too and its a mastercard so any shop that accepts MC will accept the cash passport. Just check the exchange rate with travelex first as it is normally abit lower than most exchange rates.
  6. I applied for my 2nd WHV last november using the online application. After completing the application i was given a link to attach proof of my regional work at the end but for some reason i was unable to attach any documents. about 2 hours after lodging the application my 2nd year visa was approved anyway!! Not one phone callas been made to me or my employers. Having said that i haven't left aus and im sure if i did and tried to return i would get pulled to one side and would have to prove my regional work....... Just keep your documents with you and you should'nt have any issues. On a side note the cost of the WHV skyrocketed since i took it my 1st year!!
  7. Not sure about Wa but if its anything like SA then all you need to do is provide your current UK licence, proof of your address in australia (i used a bank letter), passport and your visa. Just go to http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20669.asp and find the nearest driver and vehicle services centre to where you will be staying and take the above documents with you and you should be fine.
  8. That would be good, will try and organize something closer to March. where will you be in nov/dec??
  9. Cool, If you're into motorsport then you should check out clipsal 500 in adelaide. Hopefully more people will come on this forum who are heading to melbourne and we can have a pomsinoz meet up.
