  1. Hi Leilabelle, glad we're not the only ones, I can't find any other Posts regarding a 187 Visa. Our Sponsor has only just got Regional Sponsorship approval and he said it has taken him ages and it's been very complicated. He's employed other Poms but on 457 Visas, when he suggested we go over on a 187 we were really pleased as that's Permanent. Where are you planning to move to? Do you have a timescale? We are going over to WA on 6th Aug for a couple of weeks to look at schools, jobs for me, houses etc and we will see our Sponsor and get the paperwork moving so we should find out alot more then, I'll keep you updated. Best of Luck, C
  2. Has anyone got any advice with regard to a 187 Visa? My husband has been offered a job in WA and his potential employer is a Regional Sponsor, they have suggested that a 187 would be the best way forward opposed to a 457. We are very happy to apply for a 187 as it's Permanent unlike a 457. Any information with regard to the process, pitfalls, timescales, general stuff would be very much appreciated
  3. Hi, my brother and sister in law moved to Oz a couple of years ago and we're trying to get over now. Following their advice I am buying, 100% Cotton bedding, summer duvets, pillows, 100% Cotton towels, furniture, plastic food containers, kitchenware. These are all items that cost a fortune in Oz, here you can shop around, I've found great quality at great prices. When a parcel arrives or I come back from shopping with yet more towels my daughter simply refers to me having been 'Oz Nesting'. They also said take everything you can, fill the container to the brim, if you don't need it in Oz you can pass it on, better than ditching it here and possibly regretting it. Best of luck.
  4. Hi Mel, I believe that you have to be available to start your new job on the date the Visa is valid from. I asked an Agent this same question, hoping we'd be able to have a bit more time to organise our 'life' in the UK, what I was told was if you state a date the job starts on, eg 1st August, they will process your application to coincide with that date, but if you say job starts on granting of visa, they will process it as it gets to the 'top of the pile', either way we anticipate that my husband will have to go to Oz to start his job, in line with the date the Visa has been granted from, and we will follow once I have sorted out the house etc. I spoke to an Oz Govt help line based in London (Tel : 020 7420 3690) they were very helpful and I'm sure if you call them they'll be able to answer all your questions. Best of Luck!
