  1. Folks in Melbourne can re-schedule their tests online. Pretty good service I hope they roll it out to the rest of Australia soon. Managed to move my exam date from 23rd May to 11th March within a few seconds. https://appointments.border.gov.au/login
  2. Hello Below is my timeline from Melbourne - Wyndham City council. Haven't received a date yet for the exam. Is there anyone who have applied around the same time and received the test invite ? Also would like to know, this is only for Melbourne right now I think , to re-schedule exams a new portal has been created, no more need to call DIBP to check for free slots. https://appointments.border.gov.au/ The website mentions that you need the ClientID to login. They say "The client ID is an eleven digit number that was assigned to you when you lodged your citizenship application. Your client ID would have been included in any correspondence you would have received from the department regarding your citizenship application." I am unable to locate the Client ID . Anybody know where to look for this one . Date applied/lodged: 10 Jan 2017 - online Date received the acknowledgement email: 10 Jan 2017 Date of citizenship test invite email: tba Date of citizenship test: tba Date of approval letter: tba Date of ceremony invite: tba Date of ceremony: tba
  3. http://www.theage.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/callous-and-indifferent-australian-government-slammed-for-scrapping-three-types-of-skilled-visas-turning-away-16000-people-20150928-gjwyc7.html The article states : "The change took effect on September 22 and affected three skilled visa subclasses in the independent, sponsored and regional sponsored categories." Does anyone know what exact visa classes have been scrapped ?
  4. Not sure about the current process but from what is given on the link you cannot go there personally without a prior appointment. Only emergency/medical cases and preapproved categories may visit Passport Seva Kendra without appointment. Service will be provided at the discretion of Passport Seva Kendra in-charge/Passport Officer. Reading from the website the online method seems easier.
  5. You need to get the Police Clearance Certificate from the passport office. Check the link below: http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp
  6. This topic has been discussed numerous times and as said before it is a moral obligation to stay in the state that sposnors you for the first 2 years. Have a read at this thread: http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/migration-issues/198522-has-anyone-got-citizenship-approved-without-completing-state-sponsorship-commitment.html
  7. One thing that really helped me was getting a video resume made. Sending that along with job applications makes the recruiter a little less apprehensive. One of the agency told me that if they see a resume with a name that they cannot pronounce they most probably will not call the person. Sad but true. So adding a nickname also helps. Good luck people with the job search.
  8. Form 929 is what you will need to inform DIAC about your new passport ( http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/929.pdf )
  9. From the statement posted above it does not say/seem that the result was negative for the degree assessment. Getting the degree assessed just needs the certified copies of the degree and if possible any other supporting documentation like score sheets etc.
  10. You can enter through any state you wish. We had a state sposnsored visa from NSW, but we first landed in VIC to visit family, it was all good.
  11. Well I got a pretty standard reply in mail from the NSW SS people.Even though I sent them a detailed email explaining my situation. Here is there reply "If you were nominated for state nomination by NSW then you have committed to living and working in NSW for a minimum of 2 years."
  12. Sorry a lil confused, isn't the Australian citizenship granted after 4 years of stay on a PR visa ? I am also confused about this I have SS for NSW, however I have been getting more favorable responses from Victoria about jobs. I have mailed the NSW SS guys, let's see what they say. Have read through multiple threads on the forum that it is a moral obligation, and we are free to move to other states.Even consulted a lawyer he also said that there is no condition set on the visa that can stop us from moving. Anyways will see what the NSW SS people reply to my mail. Will keep this thread updated on the reply I get.
  13. Wow Seems everyone wants to be near the shoreline .
