  1. I agree with with what everyone is saying on the forum and me and my OH respect the law of the land and have never intended to break any rules or regulations which have been made keeping in mind the safety of the people. over speeding or not stopping was done erroneously and he agrees to his mistake. There was no intention to argue with that. We just wanted to know the repercussions of what the officer had told us. That's all.
  2. Rupert, i hope you read the whole story.. We weren't speeding but just checking the TCS on a open and empty country road.. And that's why the officer told us what he did.
  3. We are on PR.. The officer took down the Indian address mentioned on the licence..
  4. Me and my OH were on our way to great ocean road for the New Years weekend and OH sped to 130kmph for a short distance just to check the TCS system which was lighting up on the console. Cop car follows n issues a ticket for $528 and 6 demerit points however ( as I mentioned complicated) OH has an Indian licence as we have been here for less than 6 months yet. The officer was friendly and said that he has no choice but to issue the ticket even though he knows it was for a short distance to check the system. However he said as OH has Indian licence he can choose not to pay and then a notice will be sent to the Indian address mentioned on the licence and as it is not linked to the passport it should not make a difference to him. He did mention that when OH applies for vic licence they may or may not have details of this ticket and accordingly payment will have to be made if vic roads pick it up. As we were just coming out of that shock and had not even travelled another 10kms we were stopped by another cop car saying we didn't stop at a stop sign "completely". Another $282 fined. ( Our ignorance of country road driving). The previous cop was following us on that road so he stopped and spoke to the 2nd officer and explained the situation however the ticket was handed to us without telling us what we should do in regards to the payment. The questions in our minds are: 1. OH wants to apply for vic licence and does not know if he should show his Indian licence to vic roads. 2. Will this ticket be pulled up for any records with vic roads for anything like renewing our Rego or insurance?? Any information will be highly appreciated.

  6. People time for me to give you an insight into my journey to Australia and how good it's been to me... Started my journey in search for a better life and more family time, me and my newly married wife decided that Australia was the place we wanted to be. Started our visa process and had our visa within 8 months of lodging it. Time was flying and we had to make our move fast after the visa was granted. We gave up our well settled and good paying jobs we were venturing into the untold fearing that if we fail we will have lost our savings and won't know where to start again.. However booked our one way tickets and said our goodbyes to the family to be on our way to the country of our dreams. We had very little savings as we enjoyed a luxurious life and paid heavily for living it. So we started for Australia with only $7000 in our kitty hoping that we will be able to survive and we did!!! We chose Melbourne over Sydney as I had read a lot about both the cities and decided I wanted the quiet and artistic charm of Melbourne over the noisy outdoor life of Sydney. We got a helping hand from a local family to put up at their house for a few days before we found our own rental (had contacted them before we landed and it was total co incidence, you won't believe if I told you how) So anyways, we came here and found that rental was not easy as they (real estate agents) wanted to know if we had jobs or big bank balances and we had none. So we took up a shared accommodation after 14 days (couldn't trouble those guys anymore with our prolonged stay). In the meantime we were looking for jobs frantically as we had very little savings. Wife started making phone calls to accounting firms as she is an accountant and luckily had a call after just 4 phone calls. She went down for an interview and got selected after a week. I used to work for a large global bank in India and they picked me up for another job here after 2 months. So, now that jobs were in place we were relieved and planned to start a normal life again. Bought a brand new car (our first possession), moved out to our own rental and bought all the other white goods and furniture we needed. Realistically we are saving up to buy our own house very soon. And the best part is that we will be completing JUST 4 months in Melbourne after 3 days... It's been an awesome journey and I would really suggest to anyone who's thinking to take the leap and let things work out for themselves and to never stop trying. Biggest thanks to Pomsinoz who has been like a guide and friend through this entire process from the time of visa lodgement to settling in here and all the members who post loads of valuable information and their journeys which gives courage to people like me and I would like to carry on this torch for others to help them realise their dream... God bless Australia!!!!

  8. In your case your agent will get an email from the CO asking for the remaining documents like meds, PCC and form 80 if you have not FL them. Your visa page will show email sent and the date.

  12. Hi friends, I will be moving to Melbourne soon and need to ship my household stuff from Mumbai to Melbourne... Approx of about 300 kgs of misc stuff... The best quote i have got for air cargo is Rs 250/ KG. All the P&M guys i am speaking too tell me that air cargo is better as it will be faster ( I know that) :frown: and there will be custom and frieght hassles...They are giving me very high quotes for sea cargo stating that they dont charge less cargo which weighs below 500 Kgs.. Could anyone help me with what they actually paid and what callenges they faced... Thanks in advance.
  13. Hey.... since accountancy, internal auditors and external auditors are on the skilled migration list.. i thought of starting a new group for any indian CA's who have migrated to Australia... I have recently been granted a 175 visa.. and i just had a few questions Has anybody applied for the Australian CA?? (ICAI has entered into an MOU with ICAA allowing members of either side to gain membership by giving some modules of the each institute)... If so, can someone tell me the procedure?? how difficult or easy is the EBA module that ICAI members have to give gain membership of the ICAA?? Also, how does the australian market look at the Indian CA degree?? do they accept it as an equivalent or do we have to compulsorily give the Australian CA exam module?? How dificult is it to get a job for an Indian CA with or without the Australian degree there considering that we dont have local experience but only indian?? I am desperately in need of this information.... anybody with any info on this????:confused:
  14. thanks friends... Fortunately i dont have the 8502 clause in my visa... thanks for your help.
