  1. I would also appreciate being put in contact with anyone who can assist as we are also in the same situation.
  2. We moved to Sydney in may last year, I have just realised that I have not submitted a P85 form, but I have also realised that I have lost my P45 in the move. Is there anything I can do. I still have a property in the uk which we rent out so i I need to submit self assessment, is this my only option to wait to get my tax back?
  3. Thanks for the replies. One more question though. There is no outlet like in the UK where you plug the cable into, the all look like something you screw something onto. Is that just the way it is here. I can't see an Ariel on the roof either.
  4. Right, I have just moved into my unfurnished house and after a day of building furniture thought I would put the tv on, but I can't. From what I can see I have wires coming out of the wall relating to foxtel but they don't fit into the tv as the have different connectors Do I need to sign up with them. Is there a way to get only free to air television. I might be being stupid as it been a long day. any help appreciated as the kids are going to be disappointed tomorrow morning.
  5. Hi there, I know that these posts are from a few months ago now but thought I would message anyway. It would be really nice to meet up with some people in similar situation and make some friends. We arrived about a month ago now, we are staying in North Curl Curl. I have a four year old boy and soon to be three year old girl. Would be great to meet up for a chat, Cheers, Hilary
  6. Hi there, We are in North Curl Curl, so not too far from Mosman. I am at home with my four year old son and my soon to be three year old daughter. We have been here for about a month so ready to get out and about an meet some people now that my husband is at work. Would be great to meet up,
  7. Hi there, We have been in Curl Curl for just over a month now, which is just next to freshwater. We have a four year old son, so have been visiting schools in the area over the last couple of weeks. The schools on the Northern Beaches all seem to have a good reputation and we have been impressed with what we have seen. The general format is that they have school tours regularly throughout the year and once you are in catchment you can apply. Numbers are very big, compared to what we were used to at home, not unusual to have 800 plus in a Primary school. As for area, we had a good idea where we wanted to be before we came, when we arrived, we drove around, walked around and got a feel for the suburbs, personal choice after that. We were willing to take an apartment in the first case until we figured out budget, Hope that helps,
  8. Thanks northshorepom you are a fountain of knowledge.
  9. We have secured at house on a 6 month rental but are unsure if the prices will change significantly in December when we are looking again. This house would be a short term option as its not exactly what we are looking for but would be a good starting point. Any advice welcome.
  10. I wasn't sure that chatswood would be overly great for the family, boy will go to school next year, wife and 3 year old will be at home.
  11. I have secured a role in chatswood so now looking for our long term rental. Does anyone have any good suggestions for family living near to chatswood within 40 minutes. We have looked around frenchs forest which felt a bit centre less? anywhere else good that anyone can suggest? We looked at mona vale, has anyone done the commute from there?
  12. Any advice greatfully recieved! We are in the middle of packing our boxes for shipping and have packed a wooden chopping board and a wooden knife block. Is this likely to cause us any problems? We have read that wooden itmes may gain some extra attention, Cheers,
  13. We are moving to Sydney at the end of April and wondered if anyone had any advice or experience they could share in if we should secure our short term let now or wait until closer to the time. Our worry is that booking ot now may be more expensive than later. Any pros or cons that people have personal experience of would be appreciated.
  14. Thanks everyone. No I don't think he is socially immature and he attends a pre school here in Scotland which are putting the foundations in, so am fairly confident he would cope. You just worry about them..!
  15. Thank you for your time, very helpful indeed. I think I maybe shouldn't make the decision until i visit the school and get a feel for what stage his peers would be at. I am a teacher in Scotland, so always think i could fill in an academic gaps but this doesn't help with the social side! Thanks again.
