Hi everyone, was away travelling for 6 weeks so haven't been on the forum in a while. STILL waiting on visa... Over 13 months now!! Only good thing is nomination was approved in May and we did our medicals as requested. I got a bounce back message that our case officer is on holidays until September, so hoping someone else will pick up our case in the meantime! Good to see many people granted since I have been away! Congrats to all!

HI Blossom, Yep, I had a good look at both descriptions on the abs website and my job is not closer to the job they have recommended. My nomination is for a project administrator, and I am the project administrator for a mining company. They propose it seems closer aligned to a personal assistant, which I am not. I guess there may be a subjective argument depending on how you read the jobs duties, which is why we sat down yesterday and gave more detailed descriptions of each duty I have and how it relates to the role of a project administrator. I had a Vetassess skills assessment completed as a project administrator which took into account my current role and past roles and qulaifications, and I have qualifications which have focused on project management and now I am studying a masters which focuses on project finance, all relative to my role now!!! I sent an email from my manager yesterday which asked what kind of evidence they require exactly but have heard no response, and to make matters worse I am travelling home next week for a month due to my mother in law being very ill and because we haven't been back to Ireland in two years. I just can't see where they have gotten the idea that my role is more closely aligned with a personal assistant. Things are stressful enough at the moment as it is!!

Hi guys, Wondering if anybody can help. Received an email regarding my nomination. Immi think that my occupation job description sounds more like a different occupation. I really do work in my job occupation and have done since January 2010. They have allowed time to submit evidence of the fact that I work in this job or to disclose exceptional circumstances to say I work in the other job title. I'm really nervous, after waiting so long I thought this would be pretty much an open and closed thing. The job description maybe misled the CO to think that I was in a different title... What can I do, what evidence could I provide? I've already drafted a very detailed description of each duty that was on my job offer with my manager to show that they correspond to the job title in question, but I want to be as thorough as possible and make sure that there is absolutely no reason why they should refuse the nomination. I'm literally a bag of nerves Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Guys, Does anybody know what the actual process is for your application once it has been lodged right up until it has been issued to a case officer? I ask because I spoke to Immigration about my application, and they said it had yet to be issued a case officer, but they thought it would be very soon as he could see a few people had recently viewed it. I was just wondering what would they be viewing? Is there, for example, a 5-step process in which one person checks this, another person checks another bit and so on? It is mainly out of curiosity, wondering what is happening to my little application the past 10.5 months!! ​Thanks

Hi Blossom, yep I'm actually with my job 3 years and 1 month, since January 2010, and am on 457 with them since January 2011. My friend is on a 457 with her job since July 2011, and was told that it was not a senior enough position- so the MA has recommended she re-apply direct entry in July after she has been two years in the job with a 457. I thought it was very strange that they would turn down the RSMS nomination, considering she was approved for the same occupation, same job description etc for her 457 in 2011. She is a project administrator, no qualifications, but plenty of work experience, and works in an engineering company. I have the same job title, but my role takes me beyond that also into project accounting and budgeting for a mining company, but this work falls under the scope of a project administrator's job description, depending on their level and the structure of the project team. I have a Bachelors in Journalism, an Advanced Diploma in Business/ Project Management, and am studying a Masters in Applied Finance, with a major in project finance. I don't know, just the abruptness of her refusal, and the fact she has been on 457 already has me a little spooked!! So my question was, considering in January of this year I have been working with the company on a 457 for 2 years and altogether including other visas, 3 years, would they automatically change my status to direct entry application?

Hi All, Friends of ours have been rejected on their nomination- reasoning is that the job was not a senior enough position - salary and organisational chart evidenced this. She will be with the company two years in July so will re-apply for direct entry then, but unfortunately has lost $5000 in fees for the visa and the agent. I'm still waiting to hear back about ours. Did call immi last week regarding a 4 week trip I have booked home to Ireland, and they have made a note on my file, as I cannot get approved if I am out of the country. I am now just over two years on my 457, so am wondering will they now take into account this information when processing? I got skills assessment and have relevant education, and further to that am now a year into a Masters degree, which I am studying here at night. I applied 13th June, low risk, non-drc.

I know, but won't it be worth the wait in the end, whenever that may be!!! I wish they would update the time-frames, even if by just a week as I'm sure they are well past that March date of processing by now!!

Yeh, I think so too, late Jan early Feb, I would imagine DIAC are mainly wrapping up now before Xmas. Does anybody know what kind of break the department receives over the holidays? I'm hesitating on booking a trip back to Ireland for a holiday to see my family, so hopefully I can get some confirmation soon

On my acknowledgment letter it said we could get interim medicare cards until we were granted PR, so I also have a one year expiry medicare card (Without a visa grant) but was definately under the impression that once I received grant letter they would be made permanent. Medicare staff don't seem to have proper training on visas etc, I've a lot of stories recently about them messing up things and telling people they're not eligible for treatments when they are, try calling their head office....
