  1. Hi Faye, Im currently a swim instructor in Canberra! and there are so many swim schools you are spoilt for choice!!! Though I would just let you know about the schools just to give you a head start. I work at Aquatots on the north side www.aquatots.com.au they specialise in baby swimming and school age kids. So if you are keen etc I can chat to the boss for you.....other swim schools which I know of are: AIS: opportunities for management and instructors and squads CISAC (Belconnen): as above with squads Carols swim school: Private school Aquaharmony (Curtin): Similar to Aquatots. Best of luck and let me know if you have any questions Regards Eve
  2. Hey New Canberrans.... It has been ages since I have been on this site. We have been in Lyneham for 3 yrs now and I just thought I would wish you all well for new arrivals. Canberra is an amazing family friendly place. I have a 20mnth old and 5 yr old and am always keen to meet/help new people. Feel free to PM if you fancy a play with the kids of just some local advice...:-)
  3. bless you, I also fell preggers on a 457 whilst here and think I went through similar stresses you are having now. Dont fear though, as already stated you can go all out on medicare. You will have to pay for the scans though, although these arent too much but everything else is free. The only disadvantage is you cant pick/choose your gyno etc.. however having experienced NHS system with first bub this was much much better, I was checked every 4 weeks up until due date with fabulous care. When you land, go to your nearest medicare office straight away with your visa paperwork. They will then process you and you will get a recripocal card, this will be the number you use for the hospital. It would also be worth touching base with your nearest hospital before you leave. good luck.
  4. Hi, We are over in Aus as a PR and finally have our heads around the Aus tax system ........ However I have a question with regards to UK tax.... I own a property in the UK which is rented through an agency, I completed the NRL1 form and made a tiny profit of £1800 for the last financial year... Is this profit liable to UK tax on completing the self-assessment form? wouls really appreciate any feedback? thanks
