  1. Hi there, We live in Bainsford, Falkirk and are moving to Brisbane in 4 weeks! Sorry, I dont really have any advice on shipping, just noticed you were from Falkirk too! We have a little girl who will be 3 when we get there so the only things we are taking are the majority of her toys!
  2. What a fantastic report - very positive, thank you very much  Myself (34), hubby (32) and daughter (3) leave Scotland in 4 weeks to start our new life in Brisbane and what a great help this forum has been
  3. Hey Cherrywood, Just saying hi, we are moving from Falkirk to Brisbane in May, my hubby is a vehicle builder (currently works for Alexanders in Camelon). We are going with his skilled visa. We decided on Brisbane as we loved the area when we went backpacking 7 years ago, we now have a 3 year old daughter and think it will be a lovely place to live. Saying that, we are fully ready to settle where we can find work! Sorry, I cant offer any advice yet as we are at the start of our adventure! Kirsty
  4. Hi there, We (myself, hubby and 3 year old daughter) are off to Brisbane in May, we have booked 4 weeks in Brisbane Holiday Village. We had considered rental apartment/house but figured we wanted to start our adventure somewhere that felt like a holiday and our wee one can get out and enjoy it and we can meet new people. Four weeks should give us a good time to look for rentals and jobs yikes, thats when the fun really starts :jiggy:
  5. The Imrie family are moving from Falkirk to Brisbane in May! Myself (Kirsty 34), hubby (Scott 32) and daughter (Sofia 3). Currently working on clearing our household clutter to get the flat ready to rent out :arghh: and organising our leaving parties :jiggy:
  6. Hi Fourcandles, We have went for the Brisbane holiday village. Booked 4 weeks to get a good feel for our surroundings. We will be checking out North lakes and surrounding, will all depend on where we can find work I suppose. we are fully prepared to move around and find rentals until we settle in work, all part of the fun!
  7. Hi there, We are a family of 3 (Myself, hubby and daughter). We fly out from Scotland on the 11th May with a wee sleep over in Dubai then onto Brisbane, we arrive a day before my daughters 3rd birthday :ssign19: We have booked 4 weeks holiday accommodation to give us time to enjoy and settle into our adventure! Woo hoo bring on 2015!!!!
  8. AAAAWWW Love love love this! We arrive in Brisbane in May next year - cannot wait for our first Christmas :jiggy: I want to go now!
  9. Fabby thank you very much! Look out Brisbane holiday village, this wee Scottish family are coming soon! :jiggy:
  10. Hi Beddy, Thank you for the reply, you make a great point about using the holiday village as our address. As we are planning on staying for 3 weeks this should be enough time to sort out our drivers licence, medicare, job applications etc. We have looked at holiday apartments but with an almost 3 year old we feel a holiday village will be a good start for us, looks fun and friendly!
  11. Thanks for the reply freebo, will check out Meritons too
  12. Thanks so much for the replies, will have a good look around now :wubclub:
  13. Hi Cal, Thank you very much, I will check out Ashmore Palms too! Getting far too excited now - I am going Google mad! Kirsty x
  14. Hi There, My apologies if this has been asked before! We (myself, husband and two year old daughter) had our visas granted, and are planning on booking our flights to Brisbane. :ssign19: We plan on booking a holiday rental for 3 weeks and have checked out the Brisbane Holiday Village. Has anyone any experience of staying here or can you recommend anywhere else? We are planning on checking out North Lakes and surrounding suburbs to secure a long term rental. Thanks in advance Kirsty
