  1. Hi everyone, We moved from the UK to WA just over 6 years ago and settled in the Northern suburbs of Perth, Duncraig to be exact where we stayed for 3 years before making the move to the South West. It is lovely down here but can be boring with not a lot going on and I think the main reason I haven't settled is the lack of friends, and I hate to say it " English" people who actually are on the same wavelength as me, you know people who you can have a good old belly laugh with :-) I am not homesick that's for sure I haven't wanted to go back to the UK at all I love Australia and am proud to be a citizen I just want to feel settled. Originally we had intended to go to Brisbane or Gold Coast but just after we had been sent for medicals there were major changes to visa processing times and SOL lists so we had to gain last minute State Sponsorship hence the reason we ended up in WA (somewhere we had never even visited before) !! Anyway back to my point, now after a couple more visits back to QLD on holidays I can't help thinking we should make the move again. WA is just so isolated and I just don't feel truly settled even after 6 years. Has anyone done the same ?? Thanks in advance :-)
  2. Thank you - we all good thanks. Yes finally decided to make the move, just too busy in Perth for us. Haven't really settled, even though made some fab friends, it's just not home so decided on Busselton we have spent lots of time down there and really like it - also near Margaret River for Josh as he loves to surf there. My Sister moved to Bunbury few months ago so we will be closer to her too. Just need to find a house now as we are going to build so won't be finished for at least a year.
  3. Hi we are a family of 5 looking for a nice family home in Busselton area. Children will be attending Georgiana Molloy School. Minimum of 4x2 required must have garage and off road parking for 2 vehicles. We have impeccable rental references and secure employment history. Moving from Perth late December / January. If anyone knows of any houses your help is greatly appreciated too. Tina.
  4. Hey all, anyone in Perth area just moved and have boxes and or wrapping paper they want rid of? We are on the move again mid December any offers greatly appreciated. Please PM me. Tina
  5. Also can a contributory parent visa be lodged onshore in any circumstances with a bridging visa option to stay ? My parents are currently onshore on a 1 year tourist visa which is due to expire shortly.
  6. After receiving conflicting info from dept immigration call centre I am wondering if anyone can help ? I am perm resident my sister has been living in Australia 2 years she has a defacto visa bridging and currently waiting for the temporary visa to be granted she won't have perm status for up to a further 2 years. My parents are wanting a parent visa willing to pay for contributory parent visa. Between me and my sister we have 4 children - their only grandchildren. We also have a brother who is single no kids and lives in UK. First we were told that because my sister had been living here 2 years on a working holiday visa she was classed as living in Australia and our parents could apply immediately for their parent visa we have since been told my sister had to have been granted her permanent residency before our parents can apply. Not sure what is the truth now ??
  7. Thanks again guys - I don't usually spout my private dirty laundry on forums but I was down and needed a vent I guess - it helped to get things off my chest. Just update really my son is getting counselling and I am happy to say he is starting a new school after the easter break they will help him concentrate on work experience and help him get a placement in tafe to do apprenticeship. We have spoke and he wants to stay in Australia now he has no wish to return to UK which is good. He likes the weather and see's more opportunities for employment which is true. I like where I live too and don't want to move I have a good secure job working for local government - I also have a couple of special friends although I haven't known them too long offer support - i just don't want to burden them withmy problems too much hence why I came back on pons in OZ . Anyway onwards and upwards - living the dream hey lol xx

  9. Hey thanks all, just reading all your posts - Tonyman seems you were right all along. Well me being the sucker I am took him back for the good of our family he wanted to make things work, was sorry etc etc his things were barely back in the cupboards before he went out on a bucks night and returned home paralytic with condoms in his jeans pocket so there you go. Me, I deserve so much better and even though it's hard going it alone i now know it's my only option for my sanity and my children's wellbeing - I think the sun has melted his brains but I believe everything happens for a reason and hopefully it will be a good one.
  10. Thanks Ali - yeah he is giving me the amount calculated through CSA but it's not a great amount my wages only just cover the rent per fortnight it's not really the money which is an issue I have gotten good at budgeting through all our ups and downs with work and missed wages etc. It's just I feel so low and worthless I have given everything I have to make our family succeed. My son has been seeing counsellors and physc's for his state of mind and finally last week doctors put him on medication so hoping his behavior will improve in next few weeks. The kids are glad their dad has gone which is sad but I am a mess 18 years is half my life and even though I know I deserve better I hate being alone.
  11. Feeling sorry for myself so turning to PIO members for some support / outlet for me to spout off :-/ Moved to Perth almost two years ago things not been so easy but love my new country. Husband came as bricklayer and managed to keep in work money was tight but I managed to get a job and things were ok. Then he suffered prolapsed disc and couldn't work for while, luckily I landed a better job which saw us through and then finally he got a sales job dealing with construction products so everything was turning around for finally. Then after New year he moves out into his own place blaming the fact that on our 14 year old son. He has never settled and started causing major arguments in our house, refusing to go school, getting in trouble with the police etc etc. He says he can't get on with our son any more and hates him. How can a father just walk away from his family washing his hands of them. I have tried so hard to make things work from leaving the house in the morning to take kids to out of hours school club, going to work and then after school activities with the children it's often 12 hours later until I sit down for 5 mins before preparing meals. I do everything around the house he hardly lifted a finger - what did I do to deserve this. Now I find myself alone with the kids and all my lifelong friends back in the UK it's so hard. We had no savings but I am managing to pay the rent and pay all the bills juggling kids and work but I can't believe this has happened to me.

  14. Hi all, started looking into options for my parents but getting confused with lots of conflicting information. Would be really grateful if someone could give us the lowdown - here is our situation. Me and my family (hubby and kids) are permanent residents and migrated almost 2 years ago 3 months after I arrived my younger sister came to join me on a working holiday visa - she is currently on her 2nd year which was granted - she has settled with an Australian Citizen boyfriend with whom she has been living with for over a year now and has just given birth to their first and only child. They have just lodged a defacto visa prior to planning their wedding next year. My parents are currently in Australia on a 1 year tourist visa which expires in June 2012 - they have all their grandchildren in Australia now my three and my sisters newborn and dont want to leave obviously. Are we right in thinking they cannot apply for a contributory parent visa as only I am permanent resident at the present time and as we have a brother in the UK they dont meet the balance of family test ? Does it make any difference that my sister has lodged an application and has a newborn ? If they leave the country in June is there much likelihood they could apply straight away for another long stay tourist visa ? They have proof of funds to support themselves and they currently live in a self contained annexe within my sister and her partners own home. Is there any other visa my parents can apply for? Mum is 58 and Dad 60. We have been speaking to a few people who have said that they applied onshore and was allowed a bridging visa until there new application was granted. Then there are others who mention aged parent visa's. My parents current visa says no further stay which I am presuming means the onshore application would not be applicable for them. Arrggh I thought getting our visa was a headache but this is proving more confusing than ever. I have been trying to persuade them to seek advice from an Agent but Dad thinks he can just leave country apply for another long stay visa and come back couple weeks later I am worried it wont be that easy. Any advice most appreciated
