  1. On Friday at 1230 the email arrived that we have been granted permanent residency What a fantastic start to the New year .... its been a hard3 years and very long 7 month wait for the outcome but now I can say its worth it. Have fantastic new year everyone all the best for 2012 to you all
  2. I came out on a 457 3 years ago and after arriving a fair few weeks later found I was pregnant, like other said we paid for the first scan then all other scans for us were at teh hospital due to baby health concerns - we had weekly scans and even an mri on bub while inside me and all was covered on my reciprocal medicare card. I have sicnce had a 2nd child and was lucky to be selected for the Birth centre at Royal womens hospital at brisbane. I had a water birth and a fantastic team of midwives. All again on the medicare cover. I went to a bulk billing scanning centre this time so medicare again covered the scans. With the first baby complications during pregnancy i'm very grateful that medicare was available to me I worried so bad when i first found i was pregnant being on the 457 knowing what i wasnt entitled to etc i didnt think for a second they would cover having a baby until i looked more into it. Congratulations on your pregnancy and good luck with it all Edit: first bub born 100% healthy even after all the worrying cocerns off docs and numerous scans we had - keep you on your toes thats for sure
  3. We also sent ours together but they returned separate about 10 days apart
  4. Hi My mum got her ENS 856 approved in August this year. her employer submit the nomination in November 2010 and that was approved in march 2011 - she waited on the outcome of that before submitting her application. She then prepared it and used a migration agent and submit in July 2011. It took exactly 4 weeks to be approved. You could possibly submit the application with a cover letter explaining that you are awaiting the TRA result. My mum is 53 Good luck
  5. We were asked for chest xray only for ours 3 years ago but our kids were asked for medical exams and no chest xray You just wait until they request it - so don't bother as like above you may not be asked
  6. I too just had the red book. I went to the local council immunisation centre at the local library and they filled in all from red book and gave me dates for when other jabs needed doing to bring up to date.
  7. We have 2 adults 7 year old 4 year old 2 year old and 8 month baby We bought the Holden captiva - We liked the fact the back seats can go up and down individually. When both up you dont have alot of boot space but we use the 3 middle and one at the back. We get the double phil & ted in and shopping too if needed. Though dont often go out to get shopping with the pushchair to be honest. I tend to do it on an evening by myself. I love the Captiva - We also looked at the Kluger and the mitsubishi outlander but it was the flexibility of the back seats that sold the captiva to us. Though newer models of the others may have that flexibility too. Most my friends love the new model of the Ford territory.
  8. Hi I am currently on a 457 with my husband who is the sponsored employee. We have an 856 application awaiting allocation of a CO any time. My question is while on the 457 am I able to get an ABN number. I am qualified in beauty and want to start up mobile to work around my kids. Dont want to do anything illegally etc so just thought i would throw the question out there in case anyone has an idea? I'm happy to wait until we get residency if and when that happens but eager to get going mobile to build up a client base. Thanks in advance
  9. 457 if the company is a sponsoring employer? Not sure how quick they come through these days but worth looking into - your occupation will need to be on the occupation list for it though
  10. In my experience - but i'm in QLD. We arrived when my Son was 4 turning 5 in the august. I applied to our local state school to have him enrolled in the prep year starting that year even though his age put him in the following year. Our application was accepted. He was only 6 weeks out of the cut off date of June 30 and had like you already started reception class in the UK. Not sure how it works in NSW Hope it works out for you
  11. HI My mum has been here on a 457 since august 08 and just this august got her 856 granted at the age of 53
  12. Hi We are on a 457 and have a 856 application wiating to be assigned a case officer. I believe that when our 457 expires in oct 2012 if perm residency still hasnt been decided on then a bridging visa comes into affect until the outcome of the application. Not sure about renewing. I think that it depends on circumstances employer etc. If you have abridging visa you wont need to renew until outcome of your application. Not 100% though ... hope this helps
  13. I'm not sure for definate but about 12 months ago we looked into changing employer on the 457 and from what I read on it the new employer needs to be a sponsoring employer or apply to be one, then nominate you as one of their employees on the 457 programme. or something like that (dont quote me on the wording) You dont need to re apply however i believe you do need to have your documents changed showing the new employer on your visa grant. and it will also still expire on the original date. Hope this helps? I may be totally wrong
