  1. Thanks for the super helpful replies, much appreciated.
  2. Well it looks like we will be moving back to the UK, probably around midyear. Was wondering if anyone could advise approximate cost of moving. We're looking to sell most our furniture and just taking kitchenware/small appliances, small furnishings, linen etc. It may also be the situation that we haven't managed to secure jobs by the time we make the move so does anyone know if we would be eligible to apply for benefits? We've been out of the UK for just over 10 years but have kept our NI contributions up to date. TIA
  3. Thanks for all the helpful replies, sending off my applications today!
  4. All the best with your move Callum. You'll be moving over to a cold, wet and windy Perth, but at least this will give you time to acclimatise to the summers.
  5. HI jgt From my perspective, the job market is quite dire in Perth. I have also been considering letting a professional polish up my CV as I have had almost zero response to the numerous job applications I've made. In the UK I almost always had an interview after submitting my CV and even turned down a number of job offers. Over here, I seldom even receive an acknowledgement of my application, and when I do its a rejection. I've heard good things about this lady http://www.resumesetc.com.au/. I am very seriously contemplating forking out the money to have my CV given a professional polish as I am obviously doing something wrong!!
  6. Hi All Infrequent lurker here, first time posting and apologies if this has been asked before... I've just sent off the State Pension Statement Forms to DWP, but still trying to find further information about making voluntary NI contributions. Anyone here doing this? What amount should be contributed and specifically, is it worth it? I'm concerned because our Australian Super balances are very low for our ages(we wont qualify for Aus. state pension). TIA
  7. Peculiar how it is always necessary to liberate oil rich nations from the tyranny of evil dictators. If the West were so concerned about citizens suffering under oppressive regimes, they should have invaded Zimbabwe and a host of other African nations by now.
