  1. I had my medical and police check done pretty much as soon as I applied, as I don't really do hospitals and didn't want the constant worry of the medical on my mind! As with all the other comments re CO, it's just a waiting game, my CO phoned me once, before approving my application! Good luck......
  2. Hi everyone, Just an update on my experience of going through security etc........ My visa was approved back in mid July, I flew from Heathrow to Brisbane via Singapore last Weds, I was a little apprehensive about the visa, well just because I'm a worrier!! Anyway, landed in Brisbane after 20 hours flying time, and went through the fast self service area, inserted passport into the reader, had the eye scan and then received a ticket (like a train ticket) with my passport details on it, the automatic doors opened, and in I went! Picked up my suitcase, pretty much straight away, then back through the next security checkpoint, where I handed in my pre printed ticket and incoming passenger card.......and that was it.......I walked through and had an emotional catch up with my wife, daughter, and in laws, all this within 25 mins of landing.......a wonderful, stress free experience!! Jet lag aside, I'm happy and relaxed here on Bribie Island!! Cheers
  3. Omg! So excited for you!! We head to Brisbane 6th November for 2 weeks to validate hubby & daughters visas as we won't be moving before their medicals run out in March x super excited to take my daughter for the first time. Our plans are still for moving in July once college/GCSE's etc... are finished for the older kids. Wishing you the best of luck in your new adventure @QPRMARK Thanks, good luck with the November trip!! I,ll keep in touch!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Wow, not long for you Mark! Super fast timings. We are still waiting to sell our house - been on the market for nearly 4 weeks. My husband may be offered a job in Sydney (we find out in the next couple of days), so we may end up starting our Oz journey there! Exciting times for us all. X so today my journey begins @CelinaOz @Aprilfool I'm sitting at Heathrow waiting for my flight to Singapore then onto Brisbane........how are things going your end?
  5. We sold and shipped our house, quit our jobs, sold the car, sorted out schools.......all in 10 weeks. Mrs H and the little one flew last week and I depart these fine shores on Weds for Brisbane........cannot lie, it was the most stressful thing we have ever done in our life, a lot of tears along the way, loads of planning, but it can be done......Good Luck!
  6. We used Bournes to ship our worldly belongings from Henlow, Beds to Brisbane (and then onto Bribie Island) It was a really stressful day, but the guys were fantastic, we had approx 700 cubic feet filled in a container, watching them load it was like a real life game of Tetris ! Approx 12-14 weeks for it to arrive Mrs H and the little one leave 2 weeks today, and I head out in 4 weeks Exciting times ahead
  7. So so so envious. We submitted 1/2.CO assigned the same time as you BUT I then discovered that I wasn't Australian -I am the sponsor! I took out British citizenship in 1999 and unbeknown to myself, I lost my Ozzie citizenship- I have renewed passports -no trouble but obviously cannot sponsor my husband without Ozzie citizenship. If you thought that applying forthe visa was bad -try resumption of citizenship. You can onlydo it through Canberra- Australia House can't help- Theywont respond or accept any evidence by email; they deny receiving certificates which you resend but then it is held up by Border Control for 3 weeks. Eventually 2 1/2 months after starting the process they agree they have everything they need but it will take another 77 days to process. Why? When I finally become an Aussie again we can restart visa process. We wanted to go out in October- seems highly unlikely as obv have to sort out our house here!!!! Thats a tough gig, hope everything works out for you!
  8. I agree! We should all meet up for a drink once we are there!! It's been great to share this journey with others! The forum has been so hopeful and reassuring x @CelinaOz @Aprilfool How's the planning coming along? We aim to complete our house sale on 30th Sept, Mrs H and the Little one fly out on 2nd Oct, I finish work 7th Oct (28 years service), then plan to spend the week sorting out loose ends and plan to fly out mid October. The last 6 weeks has been somewhat of a whirlwind, so much still to do! We both plan to take the rest of the year off, before hitting 2017 full on. Exciting times ! Hope all well........... 9. Great news........ So glad my two forum buddies @CelinaOz @Aprilfool and myself are all now Brisbane bound!!
  10. Thanks, yes we love Bribie, we got married there in 2012, and the in laws live there
  11. Thanks @CelinaOz we took a leap of faith a few weeks ago, and decided to get valuations on the house, guy came today to take photos......family that bought live 10 doors away, hence the early viewing!! Mrs H and the little one fly out on 2nd Oct, and I follow in December after tying up all the loose ends! Still in shock with today's events!
  12. Ever had one of them days.........Visa approved this morning, house went on market at lunchtime, 1st viewing this afternoon, offer received and accepted !! Today is a very very good day!
  13. Well, today is THE day, Visa approved........straight to 100. Really mixed emotions, but a great relief that everything has now been confirmed. This forum has been a god send over the last 6 months, so thanks for all your input, comments and support. Now, just like everyone else, we have a house to sell and jobs to resign from!! Next stop Bribie Island..........
