  1. Hi Amit, It's hard to comment on if this is the right ANZSCO for you, if you're not sure then I would seek the advise of a migration agent. I'm a maintenance engineer for a fire alarm company, and this was the correct category for me. What I can say is that it's very broad, ranging from TV repairer to fire alarm/security engineer. Have you looked at ther fact sheet for the occupation on the Vetassess website? This is who you'll have your skills assessed with if you're in the UK, think it differs depending on where you reside.
  2. I've heard this, but I believe the grass is greener where you water it...
  3. I'm a fire alarm technician, applying under 342313 electronic equipment trades worker. Just a technical interview for me I believe.
  4. Yeah, here is to hoping! I'm fully prepared for this whole process to take a year... Are you waiting for a practical or technical interview?
  5. Hey, thanks for the response. I also had an email from Vetassess confirming the above. I don't need to certify my photos either... All submitted, just a waiting game now to see if I've passed stage 1!
  6. Hello all! Just wondered if anyone could clarify the document submission process for Vetassess Trade Occupations. From the 6th July 2016, I can submit my documents online according to their website. I have gathered all my documents and have applied today, however I have an email asking me to print off a Application Record and sign it and POST it to them with the documents from section 9... I am also able to upload the same documents to the upload portal, and select items from section 9 to upload online. Pretty confusing, am I able to upload all my documents online, or do I have to do both? Jamie
  7. Hi Adam, I've finally stumbled across someone who is in the same industry as me looking to emigrate to Australia and stuck with the assessment process. How far have you got with your application? I'm struggling a little with the need for a cover sheet based on the units of competency. Most of them just don't seem you link with what I do, I mean I can fault find a DC circuit, but if something goes wrong we just replace the part ie sounder extender card, PSU etc. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jamie
  8. I would say if you need 20 points for English, lookin to the Pearson PTE exam. I took thar advice from this forum, sat the exam last week and got superior first time. I would get 60 solid points and go with that. I've got work experience, but that is going to count towards my qualification, so as such could not claim for it. I'll have 30 for age, 20 for English and 10 for a qualification recognised by the skills assessment. That it. I'm a fire alarm engineer, and Electronic Equipment Trades Worker is on the SOL, with fire alarm technician as a specialisation. Hope this helps.
  9. Hey guys, just thought I'd give my ten cents worth. I sat the PTE on Tuesday and got 90 overall, with individual scores of 90, 84, 90, 86. I used the official book to revise, using the included software to take the three mock exams. That's all!! I did the mocks each night leading up to the test and got my results the morning after the test! Next step, skills assessment!
  10. Yes, I did read that see where. Might have to discount the partner skills points. Would I be entitled to the 10 points for trade certificate if using my Electricians certificate? They are definitely a close linked occupation?
  11. Oh, my partner and I have lived together for nearly two years already and have joint accounts together and bills in both our names. I think that should cover the defacto part.
  12. Thanks Storm, how would I go about checking exactly what the skills assessment would require for a pass? I've looked at various websites under the ANZ code, and the only information I can find is AQF level 3 and two years experience, AQF level 4, or three years of on the job training could be enough. Is this as finer detail as I can get? Many thanks.
  13. Hi Cal, Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Yes, I would need 3 years post qualification if I wanted to emigrate as an Electrician, however I would have been a Fire Alarm Engineer for over three years by then, and a qualification is not needed for this role. In fact, it's only a few days courses, but having on the job experience is paramount. The requirements for immigration state that three years of experience would be sufficient, so I was hoping to apply for the visa under this and take my electrician qualifications with me and convert them whilst there. I'm just hoping that Electronic Equipment Trades Worker stays on the list. Jamie
  14. Hi there, I'm jumping the gun a little here, but I was hoping to get a better understanding of what my options are going to be on getting a visa to work in Australia. I spent a couple of years on a working holiday there, and like most I fell in love. I didn't really have the skills to stay, so returned in the hope of studying and eventually moving back. I am currently studying to be an electrician (about half way through a 3 year course) and I currently work as a Fire Alarm Engineer (1 year) I have a partner who will be joining me and she is a hairdresser (5 years). * My question is, I know there is a couple of routes I can go down in the future, but I'm not sure what is the best.* I was thinking of waiting until January 2018, so I have been a fire alarm engineer for three years and applying with that. I will be a fully qualified electrician at this point, but will not have the post qualification experience to pass a skills assessment. I believe fire alarm technician comes under Electronic trades worker, which is currently on the SOL. I'm thinking 30 points for age, 20 for language, 5 for experience and 10 for trade certificate. I also have a possible 5 for partner skills and 5 for state nomination. Is this a flawed plan? I understand that the list is changing all the time, and by then the above will not be doable.* If you could give me any tips, it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Jamie
