  1. Thanks all, super helpful How long does it take to process? As mentioned, I'm moving in 3 months.
  2. Thanks @brock79, here's hoping it is quick!
  3. Dear all, Hope you are all well today and having a good week - I'm glad it's nearly the weekend, tough week! Anyway, really hoping somebody can advise me here, so let me set out what's happening: In December 2016 I was granted my 309 partner visa and we are moving to Australia in September this year. My passport is expiring in July 2018 and I'm guessing it's a lot easier and cheaper to get it renewed in UK than do it from Australia. Either way, when this happens, my visa will need to be changed to reflect the new passport number. My question is twofold really: 1) Is it simple enough to change the visa to a new passport number? Has anybody done this before and if so, did you use the ImmiAccount? 2) With 3 months until moving, is there enough time to get this sorted or should I wait until I'm in Australia to sort this? I've been on hold with the Service Centre for 25 minutes and have found myself in the queue for reporting malpractice, so have just ended the call. Can't for the life of me find the answer I'm looking for on the website either!! Any help here would be much appreciated as I don't want to jeopardise anything! Thanks!
  4. Hi all, Mrs J and I fly out to Brisbane on Sunday for a holiday (Brisbane) so going to book in some time with a real estate agent to discuss options for when we move out at the end of the year. I'm just wondering if anybody else has done this or similar and if it was fruitful or not. Thanks! Jamie
  5. Hi all, Jamie here. Visa was granted in December and we are moving over in Oct/Nov time. Moving to Brisbane, QLD. Unsure where yet but Mrs J is a Brissie girl so knows all the suburbs and such. Will initially spend a bit of time living with her folks I think whilst we get set up. Would definitely be up for a meet up as I'm sure we are all very apprehensive about the move! Not thought about work too much yet though I have had a little browse on the typical sites e.g. Seek for what's out there. I currently work in Higher Education in the Careers Team (so the chat in here about CVs has sure pricked my ears up!) so may look at places like UQ or QUT for roles. Going to Brisbane for a holiday in April as it is a friend's wedding and will give me a chance to activate my visa as well, may even go to a few open houses whilst there!
  6. So yesterday I got the email saying my 309 had been granted! Wife over the moon, as we're her family! Looks like I'm heading to Brisbane! Total process took just under 5 months Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Completely in agreement with Ciaran re: the above. I lead the Employability + Careers Svc at a University and have done recruitment prior to this and agree with all of the points above!
  8. I had my medical yesterday and have already submitted for my police check (at the request of my CO). All moving along quite quickly as only applied (309/100) 18th July
  9. I had my CO assigned last Wednesday 31st August, and they requested that I did the medical and police check and said that I had 70 days in which to complete and upload them.
  10. Hi all, hope you don't think that I'm hijacking here at all! I applied for my 309/100 on July 18th and yesterday was assigned a CO and requested for some further documents as well as the medical/police checks. This has happened a mere 6 weeks after applying (not sure if considered 'mere' but have read some absolute horror stories about processing times etc!). Whilst it may still be an absolute age before I get (all being well) approved, me and Mrs are getting very excited that we are moving ever closer to the end-goal of emigrating to QLD. Even though we aren't leaving here in the next 12 months at least, it's still good times!
  11. Wow those maps really put it into perspective. The times that I've flown to Australia, I've always been amazed at how once over WA, it still takes 5hrs or so to get to QLD! When I went from Brisbane to Agnes Waters (same state!) it was still a 6h+ drive, couldn't believe it!

    G'day

Hi PIOers! Jamie here, introducing myself on the forum having been a lurker for the past 6 months or so! So, bit about me - I'm English, Yorkshire born, living in London with my Australian wife (she's a Brissy girl) that I married in April. We have been in discussions about the potential of moving to Australia for a year or so. She's been here nearly 8 years and I'm keen to move to Australia. I absolutely love the country having been 3 times in the past 3 years. Mrs is keen to move back home now, so it seems like it is inevitable! Anyway, last Sunday 17/7/16 I officially submitted my 309 de facto visa application, having been collecting the evidence for the past 3 months or so, meaning that I'll be a lot more active in the migration/visas area of the forum to keep you updated on my journey! If/when we move over to QLD, we will be looking to live in the Brisbane area so we are close to OH's family so as you can imagine I've been spending quite a bit of my time researching different suburbs and house prices too, and honestly I've found this forum to be so insightful and it's great seeing so many people having success with their applications and starting new lives. Our timeline is fairly flexible but we are looking to be out in QLD (one way flight, all being well) by Xmas 2017, giving us nearly 18 months to get everything sorted. Obviously if for whatever reason I get granted my visa insanely quickly then we will revisit this timeline :cute: Anywho, going to stop rambling now as I'm sure it's not that interesting :biglaugh: All the best, Jamie
