  1. This is a good list and has been buried in other threads, worth the bump. Shame to see you came back to the UK so early.
  2. I didn't provide those in late May, so it must just be on rare occasions where they request it.
  3. Looks like things are starting to look up for you mate, hope all is going well now? My flights booked for Aug 21.
  4. If you're from the UK, then what you're saying sounds like a Working Holiday Visa is the way to go, Subclass 417. Temporarily, anyhow. I know it might sound stupid saying "If you're from the UK" especially due to the domain but not everyone on here is a Pom. Do you have a visitor visa already? As you should always get a visa first before booking flights, no matter whether that being a WHV, visiting visa, and so on. If you do have a visitor visa, applying for a subclass 417 will override your visitor one, and you MUST apply for this visa when outside of Australia. It'll cost you roughly £210 to apply for this, and it gives you a year of holiday and working, or if you do 88 days of regional work you can apply for a second year. To help you out here is a link to areas of Australia that count for regional work http://www.visabureau.com/australia/regional-australia.aspx and here is a list of what regional work you can do to extend it. http://www.visabureau.com/australia/specified-work.aspx If you do get this, then at least you can get employed (Up to 6 months, unless you write to immigration and get approval for longer employment) then at least this gives you an example of working and living in Australia and the life style to see if it is for you, and who knows, they might be so impressed they might sponsor you, but I believe it's roughly $3000 AUD for that Visa. It's certainly worth doing a lot of research on the Australian government website and going from there. Best of luck.
  5. Did you ever get an update with this? I'm going to seriously miss my Wednesday night Footy matches.
  6. I'd absolutely love to leave late July, unfortunately I just can't. It's too soon, I think later July is looking more likely. Gives me time to finish a few things, scrape some last minute funds (More the merrier!) and just make sure everything is in place and that I'm ready to do it. If you have Skype, Facebook... whatever, PM me it and we can discuss things quicker there and share knowledge / advise / plans ect.

    UK PAYG phone plans

Your best bet currently will be GiffGaff or Three. both offer month to month packages, no contract. i think Theew are oddweing the best though if you want it mostly for Internet.
  8. Here you go mate, this is the direct link I used to sign up. It's specifically for migrants. https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/can/moving-to-australia.html
  9. Hi Clyde. Yeah dude, that is the right account that you want to open, so simple and quick to do too. Piece of cake! Hey Byron, I don't really have a plan after those 88 days to be honest. I know I won't enjoy doing it but got to think positive about those 3 months down the line. Might even make my own little calendar and mark each day off as I go haha. Hopefully I'll be there by August latest, but who knows where life will take us. Hey Jacaranda, thank you for the advise. Am I nervous about going online? To be honest, I am in a way. It's the other side of the world so imaginable. I've travelled across the country on my own and even to Gran Canaria last year as I had family coming out there too. It's a funny story really, they wanted me to go with them but I persuaded them I was going to Cornwall with friends and they completely fell for it. I know I flew out on the 7th June at 9 PM or so and they flew the next day and was there fore 6 PM. Their reaction was priceless when they saw me walking in the lobby to meet them. But you can't really consider this going alone since I met up with them less than 24 hours later? Plus it was only 4 hours flight too. To be honest I feel like I'm being impatient too, but I just want to get there, get the farm work done then do as I please and make the most of it whilst we are still young.
  10. Where will you be flying from dude, and how old you?
  11. Do you have a skill or trade behind you, that is currently needed in Australia? The visa rules are incredibly strict nowadays. You'd be better going over on a Working Holiday Visa before you turn 31 to be honest, and if France is eligible doing your second year.
  12. I don't know where I want yet to go really. That's my only problem at the minute, however I am looking for any time from early July to Mid August myself. Personally wouldn't bother myself stopping over in Asia and stuff, seems like a waste of money to me, although the flights won't be that much of a bother to me and I certainly understand some people aren't a big fan of just sitting on a plane for a full day and such. I quite enjoy flying but I admit my longest on a flight was only 11 hours from Manchester to Cancun Mexico a couple years ago.
  13. Hello. The gray italic text is just a bit more about it, nothing too interesting so if you want to skip past it you won't miss anything important! Firstly, let me introduce myself. My name is Christopher, however most people either call me CJ or Coxy, so call me as you please. I'm 20 years old and currently living within the Greater Manchester borough of England, and I was born in December '94. I'm not new around these forums, as such. I've been browsing them for several years, because the amount of knowledge on here is just too good to miss out on. I used to have an account, but it was a long time ago so I've no idea on the username or email address I used to sign up. It's also that long ago I've moved so it's not like the Admin Team could find my account that way too through an IP lookup or something. It only had around 5 posts so I've not lost anything special. I do want to give a big thanks to all the amazing people on this forum, majority of you are what have persuaded me to follow my dreams and not to hold back from doing so. Going to Australia... where do I start? I've wanted to go for several years and had the money to do so, but for one reason or another I haven't been able to. I wanted to go in 2012 but due to my Mum having some serious illnesses and multiple operations I just couldn't leave and felt it would be wrong to leave my Mum behind at a time when she needed me. It started to pick up again in 2013 and she started being fine, but unfortunately again she became quite ill where she needed a lot of care, so once again I just felt I couldn't leave as it wasn't the right time to go. In 2014 I wanted to go even more, as you can imagine from the last two years really wanting to and being held back for one reason or another, however another family member then became quite ill and unfortunately passed away Christmas Eve. I can tell you now being in Hospital on Christmas Eve sat by someones bed side all night in the last place you'd want to be, but I have massive respect and praise for the wonderful doctors and nurses out there, they're amazing. Now it's 2015, and we're half way through the year. Everything is going good, as good as it can get for my family I would say. My Mum is now living with my Nan as she promised the family member who passed away Christmas Eve she would go and live there to look after her. My Dad is happy and in his prime of his life with his new girlfriend, and my sister is happy with her partner of several years and that's who I'm living with currently since I pretty much had no where else to live. As for the rest of my family, I don't even know who they are really, so they're out of the picture. I really feel like now is the time to go, make something of my life and explore the endless possibilities involved with that. I applied for my Visa and got it granted last month (May 2015). I am looking to fly out anytime from the end of this month to July or August, no later than mid-August though. I'm already having restless nights due to excitement! Where I want to go, I'm not too sure just yet. I've watched countless hours of videos and read so much online and the majority of people have advised to just go with the flow mostly once you get there, and those that did try and plan it out never stuck to their plans. I've got pretty much everything already sorted. Visa already done as mentioned. I've made a bank account (Highly recommend Commonwealth, http://commbank.com.au - easy to set up) and deposited $1500 in it, will be putting another grand or two in it closer to departure date, and taking rest in cash. My plan anyhow, who knows? It would be stupid to put more money in there though until I have a confirmed leave date. Is there anyone else planning to go within this time frame, with as crazy ideas as me? I'm sort of interested in just going there and finding some sort of farm work or something. As it's approaching Winter there, I feel it would be harder to find that sort of work but a better time for me, especially due to no wasps and such. Nothing bothers me except those little bas..... you get the hint. That way I have 21 months to explore and do as I wish, because at least doing this I would get the work needed for a second year Visa out the way, should I plan to do that, and it gives me extra money to do a bit of touring. I would love to meet up and go with someone, preferably between the ages of 18 - 25 with the same crazy ideas as me. I don't care whether you're male, female, white, black, pink, blue... it makes no odds to me. I've had days with friends where we've decided to just jump on a plane and go to random places, and we've done that. Admittingly, we've had brighter ideas. Though I am completely fine and confident in going on my own, it would still be nice to get to know someone before I go, book plane tickets with someone and leave at the same, to make the trip a bit more interesting than me just sitting there on a plane listening to music the entire journey. If there is anyone who fancies it, preferably leaving from Manchester or Liverpool Airport within this time period who is alone going alone, then feel free to message me and who knows where we could go from there, and would be even better if you fancied doing the farm work or similar first before anything else then enjoying Australias Summer during the end of the year without anything to mainstream, though I'm not completely sure if I want to do this as soon as I get there, just an idea, but yeah... If you have any questions, tips, anything, feel free to post in this thread. Thank you all.
  14. Hi again, has your Visa been approved? Mine was done within 12 hours, and I hear many others with similar stories despite the processing time on the website saying up to 6 days roughly. I think I applied at around 10 PM sometime last week, and had an email confirming the visa being approved at 6 AM. I would say 8 hours turnaround is fantastic, so unless you have anything of a concern you should have yours granted by now, since you only mentioned about completing it, so I presume you just sent off for it before making this thread? Anyhow, what date you looking to fly out, and where from? I'm in the middle of writing a thread about going myself so keep an eye out in this section for one.
  15. Fixed that up, there is no edit setting. Sorry. Not sure if intentional or a forum permission error on this usergroup or forum sector. One for the Admin Team to look in to I suppose.
